Canary Wharf turns purple to celebrate the Elizabeth Line opening
Purple lighting can be found on the benches of One Canada Square, Crossrail Place Roof Garden, Jubilee Park, and Canada Square Park.
To commemorate the opening of the Elizabeth line, Canary Wharf's prominent buildings, bridges, and parks have been lit up purple.
The historic One Canada Square building will be lit up in purple for the next week, while the Crossrail Place Roof Garden, Jubilee Park, and Canada Square Park's benches will be lit up in purple for the coming month.
Introducing the Elizabeth Line
The new air-conditioned trains include WiFi and can carry up to 1,500 people, more than double the capacity of the Piccadilly line tube. The high-speed trains will operate every five minutes, slashing travel times to central London stations by up to 20 minutes.
Commuters can now get to Canary Wharf in only 12 minutes, compared to over 20 minutes previously, while journey time to Liverpool Street has been lowered by 80%, from 26 to just six minutes.
