Canadians are outraged - Racisms, hatred, and violence must be stopped

'' Lately, a lot of Canadians have been enjoying evening walks to get a bit of fresh air after long days at home during this pandemic. On Sunday, in London, Ontario, that’s what a grandmother, two parents, and two children went out to do.Three generations of the Afzaal family – Salman, Madiha, their children Yumna and Fayaz, and their grandmother. But unlike every other night, that family never made it home.'' - Prime Minister Justin Trudeau

We all love to bring good news; however, the world we live in today is not just about good news:

It was a feeling of shock, sadness, and outrage as I read and listened to this news that occurred on Sunday, June 5, 2021, in London, Ontario. We condemn this act of violence, it is not normal in our country, in Canada, and it should not be normal in other places. We must speak, we must act, to stop unacceptable acts of racism, hatred and violence online and offline. Our heart goes out to a 9-year-old boy, who has lost members of his family, and who is currently injured and is hospitalized. We extend our condolences to all the friends of this family in the Muslim community at this difficult time.

It is heartbreaking reading these lines. The leaders of the government of Canada and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau share and speak their thoughts to condemn this crime through different social media. In their strong and respected opinion this killing act of the Muslim's family was not an accident, but a terroristic attack of islamophobia and hatred. The investigators and judges will do their work, and to the current time, we know that this isn't an isolated incident and case. Today numerous news tells us also that this incident is a case of an act of terrorism.

Canadians are outraged by this crime against humanity, diversity, family values, peace and freedom. Canadians do not accept to live in fear of violence and the ugliness of those who spread it. Canadians are determined not to allow any form of hatred to take root in their country. Now, in these times of the pandemic, the times of transition to the path of truth and reconciliation - these times are our times, and they call on us all to stay united and work together to stop racism and hatred. Canada is a country of peace and there isn't tolerance for any forms of hate and racism.

We live in rapidly changing times under the influence of the current pandemic, where the ability to adapt to change is a survival skill. During this time, we have become more aware of what our values are and what we stand for. These times have revealed to all of us about where we doing well and succeed and where we need to attract more attention and effort to stop and change approach which isn't effective anymore in the social, political, and environmental aspects. We have worked well together for almost a year, we are proud of our fight against COVID-19 because now we are on the right path to success to defeat this disease. Our values of diversity, inclusivity and togetherness are our strengths and our victory.

We continue with taking actions in the fight against racism, hatred, and sexism - they divide us and must be stopped:

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are living and communicating digitally more than ever before. The internet and social media have a big impact on all of us; however, let's face it, it's so easy to fall under the influence of fake influence and influencers. We must recognize the fact and the truth that the Internet and social media pose a great risk to all of us because of online misinformation, fake news, online racism, and hatred that pursue various illegal and ugly purposes.

There and now is a time when world leaders must act together to make the use of the internet safer for everyone. Racism, islamophobia, and hatred exist online and then we see the inhuman acts of violence offline, in our country, and globally. Therefore, we must find a correct and legal way to stop them. Regarding social media, there are a few thoughts and questions: Is social media a place where anyone is allowed to go with toxic manipulations, rhetoric, polarization, and insinuations using them as a personal or professional context? Is that true and legal that freedom of speech can go with a direct or indirect content of hate, racism, discrimination, and target the health and lives of people? No, it is absolutely no. Therefore, to bring the change, we must go with the re-examination of the internet and social media use.

'' We’ll continue to fight hate online and offline, which includes taking even more action to dismantle far-right hate groups; We need to stand up to reject racism and terror, and work together to embrace what makes our country strong – our diversity. May peace and blessings be upon you.'' - The Right Honourable Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau
