Roughly one in three Canadians is more worried about the cost of living than anything else, according to a new poll commissioned for CBC News. That comes even as the economy is doing relatively well, job creation is at a record, and Canadians are seeing their wages rise faster than the cost of most goods. But housing affordability is still at crisis levels in Toronto and Vancouver, and many families are struggling with child-care costs. Other top concerns among respondents include climate change, health issues, and immigration. ? Here’s what people are saying.

More than one in four workers have backed out of a job offer, according to a recent survey. And rather than feeling like celebrating multiple job offers, many dread having to turn companies down and simply don't show up to work. Instead of torpedoing their reputation, The Wall Street Journal suggests people be strategic when accepting job offers. Once a person accepts, they should do everything possible not to back out of that agreement. ? Here’s what people are saying.

Christine Lagarde has been nominated to head up the European Central Bank. The IMF's managing director won support from EU leaders to run the eurozone central bank after Mario Draghi’s eight-year term expires in October. Formal approval will likely come within months and will make Lagarde — the “rock star” of international finance — the first woman to hold the position. Ursula von der Leyen has been tapped as European Commission president, with Charles Michel as European Council president and Josep Borrell Fontelles as EU foreign policy chief. ? Tesla says it delivered a record 95,200 cars in the second quarter. That’s up from 63,000 in the first three months of the year, and marks a sharp increase from the 40,740 cars it delivered in the same quarter last year. The results come after CEO Elon Musk was forced to defend demand for the electric cars after the company's biggest drop in sales in history, which was attributed to logistical issues around shipping the Model 3 overseas. ? Nestlé has launched a new snack bar wrapper made out of paper. The food giant says it’s hoping to extend the YES! bar packaging to its other confectionery products in its bid to make all of its packaging reusable or recyclable by 2025. The move, which it calls an industry first, comes after the company was criticised by environmental group Greenpeace for failing to cut back on single-use plastics fast enough. ? Idea of the Day: Stopping bad ideas is easy, but sometimes good ones need to be put aside too, Etsy CEO Josh Silverman says in an interview with LinkedIn.

“There's a very long list of good ideas. They're strategically aligned, you'd be proud to talk to your customers or your board of directors about them. And if you try to do all of them you'll get absolutely nowhere. So the trick is to say no to most of them in service of the fewest most important.”

Groceries, gasoline, utilities, vehicle and home repair, etc, etc ... it all goes up. People need to make ends meet so they increase the costs for thier services or goods they sell ... shareholders expect to make a good return on their investment so ... costs increase to meet shareholder expectations ... the big wheel keeps on turning :-(
