2 年Cheaper housing options is certainly not true for Canada. If I recall correctly, 5 of the 10 most expensive cities in the world to buy a house are in Canada. Even in cities like Hamilton almost 100 Km from Toronto, you can't buy a single family home for less than 800K. That is when there is hardly any source of employment there. There are some cities in The USA where housing market is as high as in Canada, but then those cities have a significantly higher salary range. Unfortunately that is not true in Canada. While I agree with your points about better social benefits in Canada, however the extremely expensive accommodation in addition to low pay is a significant factor that you can't ignore.

Some people in the tech industry might look at the amount of pay as the deciding factor but what tech engineers need to consider is the benefits Canada has to offer for your future's future. 2 年This article definitely seems to address an important, though sometimes touchy subject - pay. I can say that when I was early in my career, I looked at my salary as the most important thing, not really paying as much attention to the benefits. But of course as time went on, I started to realize how much benefits really matter, as well as quality of life and particularly things like parental leave, etc. Compensation needs to be looked at holistically, and the value of a comp package can be the best even if the dollar amount behind the salary is less than what one "thinks" is a lot!
