Canadian Urban Institute announces André Corbould as newest Fellow providing advice on urban mental health and the impact on community vibrancy

The Canadian Urban Institute (CUI) is proud to announce the appointment of André Corbould as its newest Fellow to provide advice on a critical issue—urban mental health and it’s impacts on community vibrancy. Corbould brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to urban development, community engagement, and civic leadership, making him a valuable addition to the Institute’s esteemed fellowship program.
“We are thrilled to welcome André Corbould to the Canadian Urban Institute as a Fellow,” said Mary W. Rowe, President and CEO of CUI. “Focusing his efforts on urban mental health, André’s extensive background will be instrumental in advancing our mission to create resilient and inclusive cities across Canada. His insights and leadership will undoubtedly contribute to our ongoing efforts to address the complex challenges facing urban communities today and their residents.”
With a distinguished career spanning over four decades, Corbould has held numerous senior leadership positions within municipal and provincial governments as well as the Canadian Armed Forces where he retired as a Brigadier General. Currently, he is the Senior Advisor at Integrated Strategic Partners and prior was the City of Edmonton City Manager from January 2021 until April 2024. Under his leadership, Edmonton implemented its visionary City Plan, actioned many pandemic and economic recovery efforts, as well as wildfire support for thousands of evacuees taking refuge in their city. ?He also led efforts to deal with mental health and its impact on downtowns, community safety, homelessness and city livability. His expertise has earned him recognition as a visionary leader dedicated to fostering welcoming and vibrant urban environments.
The appointment comes at a pivotal time for the Canadian Urban Institute, as the organization continues to spearhead initiatives aimed at enhancing the livability and health of cities nationwide, particularly on Canada’s main streets. As a Fellow, Corbould will collaborate with CUI’s network of experts, policymakers, and community leaders to develop and implement strategies that promote equitable urban development, environmental stewardship, and economic vitality.
