On November 15, 2024, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducted Express Entry draw #324, inviting 800 French-speaking candidates to apply for permanent residency in Canada. This brings the total number of invitations issued in French language category draws for 2024 to an impressive 22,200, marking French-speaking applicants as the primary focus in these category-based selections.

The cut-off score for this latest draw was 478 points, 34 points higher than the previous draw for this category, which occurred on October 10, 2024. Future Immigration Plans and Opportunities for French Speakers

As part of the 2025-2027 Immigration Levels Plan, the Canadian government has outlined ambitious targets to enhance its immigration framework, strongly emphasizing bolstering Francophone communities across the country. The plan specifies dedicated quotas for French-speaking candidates, which are projected as follows:

  • 2025: 8.5% of total permanent resident admissions
  • 2026: 9.5% of total permanent resident admissions
  • 2027: 10% of total permanent resident admissions

The French language proficiency category was the most utilized in 2024, a trend expected to persist through 2025 and 2026. This suggests that acquiring French language skills may significantly improve your chances of receiving an invitation to apply for residency. This year, Canada issued 92,768 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) via Express Entry draws, including 22,200 for candidates proficient in French.
