Canada’s 2025 Immigration Plan
?
More bad news for those of you around the globe waiting to move to Canada to work, study or to make it your haven, Ottawa is cutting the number of new arrivals and refugee applicants.?
This is huge as Liberals are reversing their immigration policy that was initiated during the pandemic, and the large number of newcomers allowed in then was to offset the effects of the crises on the economy
As migrants face backlash from Canadians, who see “uncontrolled immigration” as the core of their problems, from unaffordable housing, rise in the cost of living, increase in crime and the rapid uptick in population.?
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau admitted there is a hiccup in his Party’s Immigration Policy and said the cuts would help the infrastructure and communities “catch up” to the massive spike in population.
Critics say this reversal is a knee-jerk reaction and universities warn there will be a huge shortfall in funds with the cut in numbers of international students. Businessmen warn the cut in the number of workers will adversely affect the economy and production.?
The reason Canada, which was always welcoming to migrants, is taking this step is also because of “bad actors” or “ghost consultants” that charge clients huge sums of money, offer “guaranteed approval” of their applications, and leave them high and dry at the border, so to speak. This was giving Canada and its immigration policy a bad name.
Here is a snapshot of the 2025 Plan:

So, is this all gloom and doom for aspiring immigrants. No, not if you are qualified and can play a part in Canada’s development and do not fall prey to fake consultants or take advantage of the system that is sputtering and come in as a student, and then seek asylum. ??
Canada is growing old, so to speak, and will need new hands in its various industrial sectors. There is never a “good time”, and waiting for it is counterproductive. The time to apply is now.

4 个月Rema, the anti-immigrant bias is not only in Canada but is fierce also in other countries, from Australia, UK, Europe..for international students the new blow is that from 2026 the Province of Ontario is effectively shutting them out from enrolling in medical schools.. experts however, say that this unlikely to solve the shortage of medical staff, especially family doctors, and patients being treated on stretchers in the hospital hallways...
