Express Entry Draws happening frequently since March 2021
The CRS score required for the latest Express Entry Draw of 20 May 2021 dropped to 397. The draw happened in just 7 days of the last draw of May 13, 2021 that saw invitation to apply (ITA) for permanent residence sent out to 4,147 Canada immigration candidates with minimum CRS score of 401. Today's draw had the cut off date of April 24, 2021, i.e., those who submitted their profile before this date and had at least 397 CRS score, were considered for the ITA.
So far, 6,546 immigration candidates in Express Entry Pool have received ITA through three Express Entry Draws in the month of May. Since March we are seeing at least 4 draws happening every month. 6,138 candidates were invited in the month of March through 4 draws while ?17,647? were invited in April through 5 draws. It was expected the next draw might happen next week given the trend of draws happening every 2-3 weeks. However, today's draw happening in just 7 days time and that too with the second lowest CRS score targeting Canada Experience Class (CEC) applicants clearly indicates Canada is following the strategy to of meeting its ambitious target of welcoming 401,000 new immigrants new year and set the precedent of prioritizing foreign temporary workers and international students for permanent residence in Canada.
The pandemic has compelled the government of Canada to device a strategy that may help in keeping the flow of immigrants into the country steady while ensuring the health and safety of Canadians. Canada is lucky it has a big inventory of temporary foreign workers and international students already residing in Canada and, as in past, can prove to be ideal immigrants having already gained valuable Canadian work experience and education here. This is way large draws inviting Canada Experience Class candidates as well as Provincial Nominee Program candidates are being held. In February 2021, we saw largest Express Entry Draw happening that invited an unprecedented 27,332 Canada Experience Class candidates.
Canada has so far invited 68,317 immigration candidates this year so far in Provincial Nominee Program and Canada Experience Class categories.
Canada has so far invited 68,317 immigration candidates this year so far in Provincial Nominee Program and Canada Experience Class categories. The Federal Skilled Worker Program candidates have yet to see a draw directed toward them. It is expected that with many Canadians getting vaccinated at a swift rate, the government will consider easing the border restrictions hopefully by September 2021. If border restrictions and travel bans are lifted soon, we can expect "All Program" draws to return to Express Entry and the opportunity for overseas candidates to get invitations. There is light at the end of the tunnel for those candidates. It is just a matter of time. That is why it is so important to create, maintain and update your Express Entry Profile to benefit from all programs draws as soon as they resume or be selected by a province and get a provincial nomination that can get applicants 600 additional and valuable CRS points. If border restrictions and travel bans are lifted soon, we can expect "All Program" draws to return to Express Entry and the opportunity for overseas candidates to get invitations.
