Have you ever left a conference feeling great about giving out all your business cards?
I just came back from the National Speakers Association Influence conference in Denver. While many of us connected on LinkedIn immediately, many simply gave me their business cards.
I protected these cards throughout the conference, looking forward to connecting with them when I got home.
Then...
Then I got home.
And did my laundry.
The cards didn't survive the dryer.
What a mess. And what a loss.
I could pick out "Our Mission" on one. And a few random words or parts of a logo on others.
But not one bit of helpful contact information.
Follow up is more than a business card
Business cards are great. But don't mix up "giving business cards" with "doing follow up."
Be sure to find a way to connect with the people you give a card to.
Happy #FollowUpFriday
