Public and corporate supporters encouraged to collect school supplies
For many Erie families, purchasing school supplies for their children is an overwhelming financial challenge because the costs of necessary items are beyond their means. That is why United Way is once again coordinating a Countywide School Supply Drive.
United Way is committed to helping students succeed and become excited to enter the school year ready to learn! This eagerness can go a long way in benefitting their future success. YOU can help by providing these children with the supplies necessary for their learning.
Thanks to sponsor Curtze Food Service, companies and individuals are invited to participate in United Way’s Countywide School Supply Drive by donating needed supplies.
Top needed school supplies include: baby wipes, binders, book bags, calculators, Clorox wipes, colored pencils, crayons, erasers, Expo markers, 2-pocket folders, glue sticks, highlighters, markers, paper, pencil cases, pencils, rulers, sanitizer, scissors, tissues and Ziploc bags.
Collected supplies will be distributed to United Way’s partnering elementary schools throughout Erie County. New donations can be taken to one of 13 drop-off locations. To make a supply donation, bring your supplies to one of these locations by July 15 or to United Way July 16-20.
Those interested in participating but unable to drop off supplies, are encouraged to sponsor supplies for a child for $20 at UnitedWayErie.org/SchoolSupplyDrive
In addition to collecting supplies, United Way will hold a volunteer packing event on Thursday, August 16 from 2-4pm at Berry Global, located at 316 West 16th Street. To volunteer to pack school supplies with us please visit UnitedWayErie.org/SchoolSupplyDrive
