Deepfake is deeply concerning because people today only read headlines, skim through a video and listen to only one side of the story. Not many people have the discernment or the patience to dig a little deeper into an issue before forming an opinion. Once it's on the internet, then it's got to be true, right? Wrong!

What is Deepfake Technology?

The term deep-fake comes from the combination of the words ‘deep learning’ and ‘fake’. Deep learning is a form of artificial intelligence technology that helps computers to learn and understand things the way humans do, such as recognizing faces or understanding speech.

In a nutshell, deep-fake is a technology that produces hyper-realistic media, such as audio and video content, by manipulating and synthesizing existing data.?

Deepfakes are a rapidly evolving technology that has the potential to cause significant harm to individuals and society as a whole.?

Deepfake technology can create almost indistinguishable audio and visual content that mimics real people and events, blurring the line between reality and fiction.?

Using the technology, anyone with access to sufficient data, such as photos, videos, and audio recordings, can create a fake representation of a person, including facial expressions, gestures, and voice.

• Only through a collective effort can we hope to mitigate the risks posed by deepfakes and protect ourselves and our society from their harmful effects.

• It is high time that the demon is taken headlong and annihilated by increasing awareness.
