Can you support my charity crowdfunding campaign?
After successfully cycling 1,100 miles around Scotland. I'm now ready to cycle around the world and I'm going to be donating all of the proceeds from my fundraising campaign to two mental health charities in Scotland.
I'm raising money for The Joshua Nolan Foundation and Smile Counselling. These frontline mental health charities provide free and subsidised counselling to young people in Scotland. Bridging the gaps in the NHS system.
2 people in Scotland die every day because of suicide, with it being the biggest killer of men under 35.
One of the biggest problems is a lack of help and support for those who suffer with mental health problems or feel suicidal.
NHS waiting times are just not acceptable at the moment for mental health treatment.
In January 2015 I went to my local GP and was told to wait 9 months for a specialist referral and 7 months for counselling.
5 months later I was almost dead as I drove my car into a wall at 80mph.
This level of support is just not acceptable. The system is broken and massively underfunded.
We can't keep failing people who are suffering.
You wouldn't wait 7 months to have physical treatment so why do we accept it when it comes to mental health?
By supporting this campaign you are directly helping young people in Scotland. For every £40 we raise a young person can get a session of counselling. Helping to reduce the amount of suicides in Scotland.
I've had enormous help and support so far from my community. I'd now ask if you could find it in your heart to continue supporting me and back my fundraising campaign.
