Can You Spell E-N-T-R-E-P-R-E-N-E-U-R?

Every year at this time the best and brightest spellers from around the nation descend upon the nation’s capital for the Scripps Spelling Bee.

Kids from ages 6-15 compete in regional spelling bees, and the winners of those get the prestigious invitation to come and compete for the national title.

Words kids had to spell last year in the championship round included:

·     Promyshlennik

·     Draahthaar

·     Bailliage

I don’t know what those words mean, but it’s important that you look up words you don’t know.

The dictionary defines an entrepreneur as a person who organizes and operates a business or businesses, taking on greater than normal financial risks in order to do so.

This definition is somewhat incomplete because it doesn’t tell you that you ARE a business.

Many people don’t realize this.

Let’s spell 3 more commonly misunderstood words:

#1 B-R-A-N-D-I-N-G

Merriam Webster’s dictionary defines branding as, “the process involved in creating a unique name and image for a product in the consumer’s mind, mainly through advertising campaigns with a consistent theme.”

But does branding always require advertising? Does advertising always require you to spend money?

Everyone has a brand…everyone.

You, your spouse, your kids, your friends, everyone! You created that brand through advertising without spending any money.

What causes people to perceive you in the way they do is dependent upon what they see you DOING most of the time.

Millennials have been branded as lazy texters, rich people as have been branded as greedy and rappers have been branded as thugs, you get the point.

How have you branded yourself? If you don't know you need to be concerned. You should be able to identify your brand with three words that capture what you do most of the time.

What is success?

Success is simply the accomplishment of an aim or purpose.

You should have many successes throughout your life and throughout every day—it's not a vague idea of the "good life" that is only attainable in the distant future.

Success can be found in any number of realms—it's not just financial.

Success needs to include any area of your life that is important, such as spiritual, physical, mental, emotional, philanthropic, communal, or familial.

Regardless of your culture, race, religion, economic background, or social group, success is vital to the well-being of the YOU, your family unit, and the group around you in society.

Success provides confidence, security, a sense of comfort, the ability to contribute at a greater level, and hope and leadership for others in terms of what is possible. Without it, you; your group, company, goals, and dreams would cease to survive and thrive.

Success is not optional, it's your duty, obligation, and responsibility!

#3 C-O-M-M-I-T

To commit is to pledge or bind (a person or an organization) to a certain course or policy.

Most people are familiar with the “all-in” concept as a poker term.

Going all-in is what takes place when a player puts all of his chips at risk and either gets knocked out or doubles up.

Though I’m not talking about money or chips here, I’m referring to a much more important bet—your efforts, creativity, energy, ideas, and persistence.

When you commit, you must go all-in.

Too many people give half-assed commitments and it's no wonder they see no success.

Entrepreneurs must be committed.

There is no failure unless you quit!

Are you ready to throw your chips down?
