Being a brand new coffee roaster in Canton Ohio, is a challenge. We had our painting business, Tegrey Family of Coatings Inc. since 1997 and still run it daily. It is our financial lifeline and we love what we do. Deciding we would like to start a new business that we can do as we get older and have a nice time doing it, we decided on roasting coffee beans. We chose to not be like 98% of other coffee roasters and open a cafe or coffee shop. We want to provide the best possible roasted coffee beans to people and businesses that value their first and often the last drink of their day. A fresh roasted coffee that provides aroma, taste and feel they desire. We do not want to compete with every coffee shop in town, just provide them with great coffee they can sell to their clients and be proud of it. So far after a few months we have found that to be a challenge in that even though they say they buy local, and they only want the best coffee to sell, they have fallen short on both ideas. They pay shipping from a company many states away and they often run out do to time lags or shipping problems. The coffees in our world come from the same farms and areas no matter who you buy the greens from. Unless you have a special farm or area that only sells to you, they are the same bean from the same countries that we all purchase from.
If you grind your coffee and the beans are fresh roasted, adding the water temp. and time factor, you will produce a great cup of coffee at home, office or in the coffee shop. The very expensive coffees we purchase at the drive through can be made in your home. They do not require years of training or very expensive equipment. just a basic understanding of coffees and how to heat them. Us as a roaster does the work of roasting the green beans and creating a fresh coffee bean that you make into the best drink of the day.
