Can you relate to this?

I’ve spoken to five different home, garden, and lifestyle SME brands in the past few days and there is one recurring theme from every single one of these conversations.

See if you can relate to this as well;

They all have someone running their Google/Meta Ads for them.

They are all seeing diminishing returns on their ad spend in recent months.

They are all saying they don’t know what to do or where to turn.

Crucially for me;

They are all saying their current agency is just ‘running their ads’ without thinking about the bigger picture.

They are all saying their current agency isn’t thinking commercially or working with these brands to ‘actually grow’.

It’s such a common theme I hear A LOT.

It’s not good enough to just run Google Ads or Meta Ads right now in 2024.

You must put the commercials and business plan at the very forefront of your mind.

A line I say all the time is: We don’t want to put the cart before the horse

All too often marketers love to conclude the answer to your prayers is what they provide as a service without truly understanding what you're trying to achieve.

They love to delve straight into your ads.

They don’t stop and ask what are you trying to achieve commercially?

What the business plan is and how you're going to get there?

Having the same conversation five times in as many days has prompted me to change the format of this newsletter today.

It occurred to me, that a massive USP of Evergreen, but one I never talk about is that when you work with us you get me as your digital marketing business advisor for FREE.

You pay for the paid media management and the creative services, but from the very first call into our agency, you get me probing, asking questions, challenging you, and working with you to build a clear commercial plan for your business.

I simply won’t allow us to talk about Google Ads or Meta Ads until we have a clear understanding of:

Where your business was (history)

Where your business is today (current performance across all channels, everything)

Where you want the business to be in 3-5 years (what success looks like to you)

I ask exactly these questions every time I’m talking to a prospect. Don’t believe me? Call the office and you’ll find out first hand.

Only when we know what we’re aiming for should we delve into the various channels, platforms, and routes to market, to which I use our BackBONE of Digital Marketing concept, which if you haven’t seen, do check it out.

You wouldn’t get into your car and start driving if you didn’t have a destination in mind, so why would you start running Ads if you don’t have a clear plan/strategy in place?
