Can you record a 2 minutes video for my Algorithms students?
For my undergraduate course, titled, "Analysis of Algorithms" I've decided to do an interesting experiment this time: For 25% of the course's marks, my students will solve 1 hiring question (of course, related to the contents they've covered in this course,) but instead of cooking up mock interview questions (in the sorry academia style) I want the question to be posed by actual industry folks like you. The pool of questions will not just help my students prepare better for industry, but also in my next offering this might help me improve the course. If you agree, you just have to keep the following few things in mind:
1) For the first part of the course, we've followed Stanford's algorithms course, and covered merge and quick sorts etc. For the second half we've done graph theory algorithms:
2) In addition to the above-mentioned contents, you can assume that the students have done programming fundamentals (Python) and basic data structures prior to this course.
3) My students and I have read this wonderful article and I fully subscribe to it. This is written by a software engineer who's worked at places like Skype, Skyscanner, Uber etc. TLDR: He's highlighted that exotic algorithms and data structures are hardly ever used in industry.
4) In light of point 3 above, I'm expecting something like this google mock interview (just as an example.) It's a question which gives 3 inputs to an algorithm: a list of airports, a list of airport connections and a starting airport, and asks the candidate to design an algorithm that can figure out the minimum additions to the list of airport connections, such that any airline passenger can reach to all airports in the first list of airports. As is obvious, the solution requires a good understanding of graphs:
5) You can use zoom (or the most accessible app) for recording, with screen sharing etc. and explain your question. Do shout out your name and workplace's name at the start. It is not at all mandatory to use English as a language, the focus of the course is algorithms!
Lastly, and importantly, I don't require your commitment beyond the 2 minutes video. I'll be really grateful just for the original question. I'll do the interview with the students myself, using your question/video : )
Share the video (either direct attachment or youtube link) at [email protected] or any queries prior to it.

3 年Good!, How about sending ur students well known problemsets like https://acm.timus.ru/problemset.aspx Unless you are concerned if the question must be unique and not googleable!
