Can You Predict Your Success

As I mentioned in my previous article One Man Three Lives?my wife creates art yet after watching 'Arnold' on Netflix, she noticed her glass ceiling and the limits she placed on herself in being an artist.?Since then, she has continued to transform her mindset and has been taking actions consistent with the creative future she is living into.

One of the hardest things when you know you are an artist is having the confidence and belief in yourself to be an artist in name and action. Sometimes other people might tell you they love your art, or that you are an artist, but it’s the moment when you truly believe it for yourself, like hand on heart I declare I am an artist, that is the moment that changes everything; especially your view of yourself.?

Self-belief is such an interesting thing, because it is one’s own perception of themselves that either stops them in their tracks or as in my wife’s example, she is now completely?free to be?an artist.?

For Lorenz, the next level of action was applying for solo exhibitions, entering other art exhibitions, looking at art residencies and grants. As with all actions a percentage of those applications and conversations resulted in a YES and she has generated some fantastic results. Yet each time Lorenz put herself out there she noticed the roller coaster of emotions that she experienced, and the impact of that roller coaster.Recently, she became aware of Jia Jiang The Art of Achieving Ambitious ThingsTM and Rejection Therapy with Jia Jiang.

To note Rejection Therapy is not some new trend, in fact it has been a movement since 2016, when Jiang acquired Rejection Therapy after the 100-Day of Rejection Therapy went viral on social media and his TED talk What I learned from 100 days of rejection as I write this article sits at 10,647,790 views.

Since playing the Rejection Game Lorenz says "she feels free to put herself out there, be excited and if by chance her proposal, application or even her artwork is rejected, she can let it go and move onto the next opportunity."

Can you predict your success?

What I love about this game is you don’t get stopped by rejection, if you know your numbers then you can predict your success or conversion rate. For example, in sales it is critical to know and understand the answers to these questions:

On average how many contacts do I need to make to get a meeting?

How many meetings produce quotes or proposals?

How many proposals cause orders?

If you know your numbers you know what’s likely to happen and your next rejection brings you closer to your next sale.

The aspect I work on the most when working with my clients is repetition. Repetition is the secret to skill. Once you know your numbers what happens if you can get a little bit better at each step of the process? Continuous improvement = $$$$$$
