Can You Make Money As An Introverted Freelance Writer?

Can you make money as an introverted freelance writer? Yes, you can!

I'm an Ambivert, big on the Introverted side, and I make money as a freelance writer. So can you.

The only issue would be marketing yourself!

The freelance writing industry is over-saturated; for you to make money, you've got to put yourself out there. As painful as it sounds, you have to network with people and give them reasons to hire you.?

I know how draining it is to hit the "post" button on LinkedIn; now you'll have to hit the "send" button - urgghh!?

The good news is, there are ways you can market yourself painlessly - I use these strategies, and they work magic.

  • Have a bad-ass LinkedIn profile

Everyone says you have to post consistently on LinkedIn to get jobs - I don't believe that. You don't have to post all the time to get jobs; all you need to do is focus on your profile. Your LinkedIn profile is one of the first things people check before hiring you or contacting you for a job.

Let's get this straight, your LinkedIn profile is not your resume! Your resume is a tool you use to apply for jobs. Your LinkedIn profile shows people who you are, your level of expertise, what you've done, and how you can help them.?

Take your time to optimize your LinkedIn profile, and you'd thank me for it.

  • Send direct messages and mail

If you are an introvert, you might find it hard to network physically or virtually. I find it difficult to network with so many people (virtual groups), but I do it regardless. While networking might not be your thing, you may find it helpful and painless to send direct messages and arrange one-on-one meetings with your prospects.

  • Let your portfolio speak for you

As an introvert, your biggest asset should be your portfolio.?

Why?

Let's face it, we (Introverts) aren't the best at talking about ourselves. What better way can we market yourself than showing our previous work to our prospects?

A good portfolio does 80% of the marketing for you, and it'd save you having to repeat yourself to every client.?

You don't need money to create a portfolio, especially as a new freelancer. Sign up with Contra, and design your portfolio for free.?

I don't want you to see your personality type as a weakness. I know it might seem overwhelming, especially with all these "Gurus" saying always have to be in your clients' faces. Remember, you don't have to be the loudest in the room to make sales, but you have to be strategic.?

I believe this is something to keep in mind as I venture into this space of freelancing as an Introvert. Thanks for sharing.

I love the part about being strategic instead of trying so hard to be loud. Great work.
