Can you hear them?

Today's lesson- listen to what your patients are telling you whether it be with their mouths or their body.
Watching patients in dental and medical practices is quite exciting and definitely educational and important. Listening to these patients is by far even more important. Many offices do a great job! Some offices miss the mark completely!
How is your office doing?
What I mean is, are you listening to your patients and what they are telling you with their words, actions and not saying to you?
I can't tell you how many dentists (this could be any healthcare provider) tell me that they don't have any patients that need to be tested for #OSA (Sleep Apnea.) In the next breath they tell me how Tom, Tina or whomever fell asleep in the chair during a routine visit and SNORED the whole time. Do you see a problem here?
Ex: Are your patients giving your office good reviews? If so, are you listening to the reviews and following up? If not, are you providing service good enough for reviewing?
Ex: Are your patients tired? Have you asked them about their sleep?
Ex: Are your patients only coming once and then going elsewhere? Have you asked them why if they are? Have you asked your current patients why they stay with you or what they would like to see more/less of with your practice?
If you don't listen you miss so much!
I encourage you and your team to take inventory and ask. Fell free to incentivize those you ask to tell. Ask on Facebook, ask on twitter, ask on Google+. Keep asking and you will never lack for a great practice. In fact, this will lead to referral after referral.
