Can You Get In Top Shape Without Tracking Food/Calories?

So many times I get the question about the NEED for tracking calories.

Someone who's never done it often thinks it's obsessive, makes you crazy, etc.

I disagree.

Calories are the currency of your body weight.

Just like dollars are the currency of your business.

So imagine you said you want to run a business...

But just don't want to do any accounting.

None of it.

So you have no clue of money coming in, cash flow, outflow...

You just say as long as clients/customers are coming and paying, it's all good.

How would that work out?

Not well.

Same with your body weight.

We inherently have NO clue, I mean ZERO clue of how many calories we're eating.

As in - ALL the foods we eat have more calories than we think.

Especially true the more processed foods are.

And the more overweight people are - the more clueless they are about their calorie intake.

In one study, the asked obese subjects how many calories they thought they consumed.

When they actually measured it, it was UP TO 75% higher.

Imagine eating 4000 calories/day, while thinking you eat 1000.

That's how you get obese.

Also, people overestimated how many calories they burned through exercise, by up to 72%.

We all consume way more calories than we think we do.

That's why tracking food for a few weeks is a must.

I have ALL my clients do it.

So they can gain control, and understand the process.

Without exceptions, they all conclude 2 things:

1. ALL foods have more calories than they thought

2. They consume WAY more calories than they thought

Explains why 80% of adults are overweight, 40% obese, doesn't it?

IMPORTANT NOTE: you do NOT need to track for the rest of your life

My God, if we did it'd be awful.

But luckily we don't.

It's only needed for a few weeks, a few months tops.

Because once you've tracked that chicken breast, slices of bread, protein shake or any other food - several times...

You get a pretty good idea on guestimating your calories.

And once that skill is gained, you're free for life.

Weight will never be an issue again.

Because you understand how it works.

And you have CONTROL.

P.S. - an hour of lifting weights may burn 150-250 calories.

Maybe twice that for an hour of cardio.

Plan and act accordingly.
