Can you create the story you want? Read on!
There I was in my daily quote communication with a dear friend of mine. This is what I sent to my dear friend. "Ever feel like you are in the wrong story? How about taking steps towards creating a new one?" By the way this quote is not mine, and it belongs to one of my LinkedIn connections Melissa Dawn . So, don't quote me on this.
Getting back to my communication with my dear friend, she responded back:
Dear J:
How about if all the steps that have been taken in the "past" have simply led to new "wrong stories" - then what? Thoughts welcome.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now what? My friend got me thinking. Then this is what I responded back to her:
Dear Friend:
I see your frustration with taking all the steps in the past and that simply leading into new wrong stories. It is not easy to script the story you want, however it is not impossible.
I will give you some stat that I might have told you before. They say it takes about 200 to 300 job applications to get 7 to 10 interviews. Then out of 7 to 10 interviews, you may get 1 or 2 offers. Here is my personal experience; I recently wanted to change my career. I applied for 269 jobs and was invited for 11 face to face interviews. I received 3 offers out of those 11 face to face interviews. Finally I chose that 1 offer, I really liked. Tom Edison failed more than 1000 times before he invented Light bulb. If I may paraphrase Tom's quote, he said "I didn't fail, but rather I found 1000 ways that didn't work." The point is that, you become unstoppable, unreasonable in keep creating stories after stories, until you script the story you want. If you have the right intention/context and take actions consistent with your intention, believe me the story of your choice will happen.

8 年No stories are good or bad....interests vary and so do stories. Do you want to go with the existing stories or do you want to narrate another one? That's the question that you have raised. Stories in vogue are already written, they have been experienced too. That's probably the reason everyone wants something new, something challenging, something that speeds them up. It's all right to tread safer paths if one is satisfied doing so. One slip and there are a plethora of options available from experience to come back to track. But if one is of the risk taking kind or is charged to want to bank on his inner will and determination, then the destinations are aplenty too. Different routes offer different challenges, destinations open to the persons discretion. To leave it to fate is a way too late, For little is the time for halts. Can I take a try at all or let the moment pass all? Take a stride ahead to make It worth, All your efforts do count. Heedless to fate is your route, Go along the paths...so found

9 年I think it's great advice for those who are applying for jobs 'anywhere,' or within a certain territory. I'm going to guess we may have that many openings for jobs that might interest me in 2 plus years combined in the rural city I live in. Of course, that's just a guess. But, for those who are lucky enough to live in a Metro area, great advice. On a positive note what I did take away from this is to never give up :))

9 年I don't believe in coincidence, J, and I don't believe strictly in fate. Your friend cannot have taken "wrong steps" in her story - each step leads us to the next part of our lives. Each step offers opportunities to turn back, move forward, take a step to the side, or even jump, in order to create a plot twist. Every day we have our chances to make things different in our lives.
