Can you coach entire organisations? Insights into the power of Connected Coaching.

It’s widely recognised that coaching can have a dramatic effect on individuals. However, a structured and more strategic approach to coaching can also transform entire organisations.
There is a mountain of research to demonstrate just how effective coaching is. The International Coach Federation’s 2016 Global Coaching Client Study found that the vast majority of organisations see a clear return on investment in coaching in terms of enhanced skills and increased productivity. As the research says, ‘Virtually all companies and individuals who hire a coach are satisfied’.
Despite this – and perhaps because of it – few organisations have an overall coaching strategy. It is seen as a highly effective way of supporting individuals, but rarely seen as a highly effective business-wide intervention.
At Cirrus, we have challenged clients to change this view. We believe that the impact of coaching can be tremendously enhanced when it is viewed as a programmatic intervention. What do we mean by ‘programmatic’? We’re talking about wide scale, targeted coaching which helps achieve organisational goals and cultural transformation.
We call it Connected Coaching because it connects your leaders to your strategy and goals and draws on the principles of Connected Leadership in order to develop more agile, customer-centred organisations.
Connected Coaching is a scalable solution. It works across different teams, business functions and geographical locations. We have a global team of highly qualified, business-focused coaches. Strata, our unique digital platform, helps to formalise the relationship between individual, coach and organisation. By collating feedback from coaches and coachees, the dashboard displays invaluable information on what challenges and insights are trending across the team, business function and entire business. Another unique feature of Strata is that after each coaching session, the coachee determines the impact the coach is having on them, their teams and the business.
One client commented that, “Connected Coaching is different to anything else I’ve ever experienced during my career. It goes way beyond traditional coaching. It helped us to move our organisational agenda and to create sustainable cultural change. We saw results in just 100 days, which was truly amazing.”
The fixed-term nature of Connected Coaching is central to its success. It creates a clear focus and encourages intense effort on creating and transitioning through change. Leaders and their Line Managers on the coaching journey agree goals and actions and commit to achieving results – all in line with overall business goals.
There is such a buzz around Connected Coaching that we’ve seen take-up rates increase dramatically compared to more traditional coaching programmes – more than double in one organisation. 100% of participants globally have said Connected Coaching has increased the impact they have as leaders.
