Can you become best friends with a colleague?
Colleagues or friends? No, we did not go from software company to dating app. We are just proud of the many friendships we saw growing during the last years at Yonder and we want to talk more about this.
We work 8 hours per day. 5 days per week. One-third of our lives is spent at work. We know this, we live this. Therefore, we do our best to sustain a healthy culture and a nice work environment but also surround ourselves with people that resonate with our values and understand what community means for us: a place to be yourself, where you can find people like you, and where you can work and have fun as well. People that feel good at their workplace are not part of boring companies. They are part of companies that understand we are all humans.
Bianca, Silvia, and Alexandra met and became friends at Yonder. And here are some of their thoughts about how this happened and what makes them stick together.
When I joined the Yonder team in 2019, me and Silvia (aka Silvix) clicked right away. With time we became good friends, even though over time we changed projects within the company, and we didn't work so closely anymore. I work as a web developer and Silvia is a tester, so we like to say that both us and our roles complete themselves.?We even got matching stickers on the office access card.
The girls left the cards at home when Bianca was Silvia's bridesmaid at her wedding. Yeah, just bragging about how good friends they are.????
On one of the projects Bianca is working on now, she came across Alexandra (Ale). Even though they met during the pandemic and interacted?exclusively online for a long time, they still built a good friendship. And they are neighbors, so we think that faith is also involved.?
Ale and Silvix are not the only friends I have made here. I have always felt welcome in the teams I worked within. Three years have passed since I joined this company, but I am still "in love" with the good vibes at Yonder.
Silvia, Yonderist for four years already, had never thought before that collegiality could turn into such beautiful and sincere friendships outside of work.

I like that Bianca and I are loyal to our roles even when we are not at work. I'm still looking with "tester eyes" at everything she posts on Instagram ??. With Alexandra, on the other hand, I have never worked on the same project, and we still have a good connection. She is always there when I need her, always honest, open, and happy. Ale is also a tester, and perhaps unintentionally we came to understand each other in a nice way.
Alexandra's story in Yonder starts twice, meaning she has two start dates. The first one was in 2015, and the second one was in 2019. She had a year of Yonder break. That was how much she managed to stay away (her words, not ours)
She met Bianca and Silvia after her return to Yonder. They were working together on a project, and Ale often saw them at various company events, always spreading good vibes around them. From the beginning, they were welcoming and friendly, and Alexandra quickly felt like one of them in their group.
Bianca had the role of "ramp-up specialist" on both projects we work on together, and it was inevitable that we became friends. I met Silvia for the first time in the testing community, and we resonated from the very first moment. I think it helped that we were the most punctual ones in any context. Although we have many common topics at work, I think the other hobbies made a difference.
These girls light any (virtual) room and we are lucky to have them as part of the Yonder community and colleagues. Anyone would be. Speaking of that, here are some available roles on the projects they are working on:
