A Guide to Professionalism in the Live Events Industry

?How do we enhance relationships between event companies and their crew while removing the “us vs. them” mentality?

?? This week's?Corralling the Chaos podcast?explains how the Code of the West embodies industry professionalism.

????Code of the West?

  • Take pride in your work
  • Know where to draw the line
  • Live each day with courage
  • When you make a promise, keep it
  • Ride for the brand
  • Always finish what you start
  • Do what has to be done
  • Be tough, but fair
  • Talk less and say more
  • Remember that some things are not for sale

Exercises You Can Do On the Road

?One of the most challenging aspects of life in the events industry is the constant travel and inconsistent schedule. How do you stay healthy when you’re working? What kind of exercises can you do in a tiny hotel room?

?We’ve called in our resident fitness expert and CrossFit certified colleague, customer success manager John Barron, to show us a few ways you can stay in shape, no matter where you are.

????Let's get warmed up first!?

Couch stretch: you can do a series of static stretches against a couch, a wall, a hotel bed or whatever your space may offer.

?Lunge kicks: start from a standing position. Lunge backward until your back leg’s knee just touches the ground. From there, push your hips towards the ground while driving the knee forward. As you stand back up, kick that foot as high as you can in front of you.

?Wall push-ups: just like you would on the floor, position yourself in front of a wall and perform 10-15 wall push-ups.

???? Time for the workout:??

Repeat this cycle seven times ("7 by 7" routine):

  • 7 squats
  • 7 push-ups
  • 7 sit-ups

Try to maintain good form to complete the exercises but if you can't take a look at these?step-by-step videos and modified versions.

?You may not be able to complete seven cycles of this loop – that’s okay! The important thing is that you challenge yourself.
