Can vlogging help your business?

As someone who has been advocating for it for a long time, I believe that vlogging can help you promote your product or service and increase your brand awareness. Vlogging is an incredibly effective yet underrated marketing tool that's often associated with travel, hobbies, or side projects ONLY. However, businesses have repeatedly succeeded with vlogging-like content creation campaigns. Many of us fail to recognize that some of the brand ambassadors that we look up to STARTED with simple vlogs disguised as corporate video because the quality and editing are so polished, it almost seems like it was produced by an agency.

START WITH WHY

Let's start with the "why." Why should you? Well, why not? If you're a frugal marketer and bootstrapping your way to becoming a successful business owner or solopreneur, your marketing budget is likely very low, especially if you're a startup or a relatively new business. Sometimes, you can't even afford to hire a team to create content for you. That's where vlogging comes in. It's perhaps the most effective and cheapest way to promote your product or service with a great ROI, or Return of Energy and Time - check on all three aspects.

NEXT, THE HOW

So, how can you start incorporating vlogs into your business? Here are some examples.

If you're the sole owner of the business, you could be the best person to represent the brand, so personal branding is a huge plus if you can pull it off. Start with that, and you can do it on any platform of choice: LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, etc. But feel free to explore any other platforms. Of course, I would go with video vs. other mediums because it is the go-to right now. It has better reach, better connections, and better results - again, check all three aspects.

You can use vlogging to give your audience a glimpse of what's happening in the office (or home office) - a sneak peek or what we call "behind the scenes". People love that thing.

You can also use vlogs to give updates, announce important milestones, and tease them about upcoming events, launches, and so on. It's limitless.

If you have a small team, you can also delegate video shooting and talk in front of the camera shots. It could be a collaborative effort - writing, scripting, recording, editing, etc. So, if you want to focus your energy on other more important stuff, you can delegate the vlogging to your team and then hire a video editor on Fiverr , Upwork , and of course here on LinkedIn . But you can also learn basic editing if you're on a tight budget (it's your call). However, it will definitely eat up a lot of your time, so consider outsourcing to save time and brain power.

Next is distribution. You can create long-form (pants) for YouTube then ask your editor for short-form versions or bite-sized videos for #Reels, #Shorts, or even TikTok if that's your thing. What I love about vlogs, especially if they're evergreen, is that they can accumulate new views and eyeballs for a long period, especially on YouTube. You create it one time, then you can repurpose, redistribute, or re-edit it for your marketing or campaign. That's the beauty of vlogging.
