Can Time Dilation Make You Younger

How can time dilation make you younger? Many people are interested in time travel and science fiction movies. Is there any way you can get younger with time dilation??

Typical Assumptions?

Einstein said time moves slower the faster you travel, and time stops at the speed of light. Many people want to use this fact to become younger. They call it time travel to the future. Another way that time slows down is by experiencing a strong force of gravitational time dilation. Time near a Black hole is an example that confuses everyone. They use the scenario of observing a spaceship falling into a Black Hole, and time slows down, so the spaceship seems never to reach the event horizon.??

People think the spaceship crew gets younger as it experiences strong gravity. An example of the effect is in the movie Interstellar. In the film, the astronaut on Interstellar returns, and his daughter is dying of old age. Did he get younger, or did his daughter get older? Yes and no. It’s time to explain the thinking behind time dilation and aging.

Getting Younger is Science Fiction.

The fountain of youth has been a dream of many a poor boy or girl. Thousands of science fiction fans want to use science to get younger by using Einstein’s time dilation. In experiments, Einstein’s gravitational time dilation has been proved numerous times, and the GPS satellites must account for time dilation daily to maintain Earth time. However, time dilation is a false time affecting a clock, but clocks can't change your age or make you younger. Time isn't a force that can change physical activity. Clocks measure the duration and speed of physical events and label it as time.

The Motion of Time?

Time has two parts that we have combined into one concept. One is the time on a clock, and the other is the speed or duration of motion. When we watch a pendulum clock swinging and see the second hand on a clock moving, we believe that time is passing… When we see the movement of objects, we translate that to mean that time is moving, and it is, but here’s the thing: time doesn’t make things move. A force causes objects to move and clocks to tick.?

We equate a clock's movement to time's movement. However, objects move, and “time” is a number on a clock, not the force that moves a clock.

Time is based on the measurement of Earth's rotation and is set to 86,400 seconds per day. Clocks tick at the same rate as Earth moves unless they experience an external force. Clocks can stop or slow down, but the Earth keeps moving.

Gravity Controls Time?

A clock’s ticking rate depends on the force of gravity in the clock's environment. Gravity and acceleration are two forces that will change a clock’s ticking. We have a perfect example of time dilation with GPS satellites. The lack of gravity in space allows the satellite’s clock to tick 45 microseconds faster per day than a reference clock on Earth. The satellite's acceleration force makes the clock tick 7 microseconds slower per day, so the total time dilation is 38 microseconds per day faster than Earth time. Therefore, an astronaut would age 38 microseconds a day faster than a person on Earth, but only in your thoughts can clocks control your aging. Visit and read my answer to the Twin Paradox.

GPS satellites' time is faster because Earth's clocks experience Earth’s gravity, although we never think of it like that. A spaceship traveling at speeds near light speed experiences forces of acceleration, so its clock would tick slowly and register more time dilation.

In the Twin Paradox, the twin's spaceship clock shows that one year has passed, but when he returns to Earth, the duration of his trip is ten years. Most people think that the spaceship twin is ten years younger. But the spaceship clock slowed down because of time dilation. His clock had an error in its measurement of motion. The actual duration of time in the spaceship didn’t change, and both twins experienced a duration of ten Earth years. The age of Earth, the twins, and the universe remains unchanged.

The Experience of Aging?

Can we get younger using the science of time dilation? We use time to keep track of the day’s events and to plan future events. Time is a measurement of an activity's speed or duration. The universe is the same age everywhere, and the numbers on a clock move at the same speed as the Earth rotates. Traveling at the speed of light doesn’t make you younger. In reality, it’s the opposite.

Einstein's Special Relativity of Time Dilation

Speed comes with a force of acceleration that can be lethal. Objects can not travel faster than light because the universe is expanding at the speed of light. However, objects can move at relativistic speeds within the universe, but they would be invisible to our eyes. Einstein neglected the effects of gravity and acceleration in his SR theory. Moreover, his mind experiments are impossible to prove or observe. Einstein's Special Relativity shows length contraction and time dilation using imaginary clocks and imaginary observations calculated by the speed of light, which is invisible, so the results can not be observed.?

The clocks in his mind experiment are from Earth and placed into space where clocks don't work properly. The GPS satellite clocks demonstrate that clocks in space do not keep the correct time. The GPS doesn't prove that time is relative. It indicates that clocks don't work properly in space. If a clock or object moves at the speed of light, all mind experiments and observations are incorrect because time dilation isn't actual time. Therefore, Special Relatively defies logic and is based on imaginary thinking that the ticking of clocks changes time. Clocks are used to measure motion, but they are useless in space, so the theory of Special Relativity is based on falsehoods.?

When you move forward or backward, it’s simply movement. Motion is a duration of movement, which we can measure with a clock. However, we must realize that physical activity is motion and time on a clock is a measured description of motion. It’s like saying you can jump four feet high. The activity is jumping, and the measurement is how high. Movement is the action, and how fast or in what direction is a measurement. If you move fast, your clock will experience acceleration and get time dilation, so the clock's time will be wrong. However, Earth's time and rotation don’t change if clocks tick faster or slower. Time isn’t relative; as Einstein said, the clocks are in error.?

The force of gravity slows down a clock's time and the frequency of all matter in a spaceship and your body. Accelerating to the speed of light puts gravitational stress on your heart and other body functions, slowing down your biology. You will die from the force of acceleration when your heart stops beating. We measure our age by the number of trips we take around the sun, but the measurement isn’t time. How many trips you take around the sun is a number, not time. It's a duration of motion counted by the orbits of Earth. The force providing motion is gravity, not time.?

Similarly, a clock measures the rotation of the Earth, but the clock's time is not the force moving the Earth. It’s just a number. If you measure your heartbeat at 72 beats per minute, that’s a number of 72, but it’s not the force that keeps your heart beating. Numbers aren't physical things; they are measurements of physical things.

What determines how long we live? Time doesn’t make us older. Time is a measurement of the motion we experience. Our age is a number, but we get older because of the physical and emotional stress we experience. Each time we have an injury or illness, we add more stress to our bodies. The age of our physical biology depends on how much stress we experience.??

Time dilation can’t make us live longer, but we can add life to our years by avoiding stress. Nothing can stop the numbers that increase our age, but if we exercise and eat nutritious food, we will look and feel younger. Thanks for your time; use it wisely.
