Is it possible for teaching courses to make millions of dollars?
Do teachers ever become millionaires? Or is big money only reserved for people with major startup or founding ideas?
I am passionate about teaching and educators, and aspire to transition someday from my current day job into teaching.
But when I say that I want to become a teacher, especially in a country like India, the reply I get is “But how will you make enough money as a teacher?”. This is the common question I’m always asked by friends and family, and, unfortunately, even on first dates—which often end up being the last dates as well.
For that reason, I wanted to take up a case study of my favorite Udemy instructor Dr. Anglea Yu.
Through this I want to showcase that even teachers can make huge Money while having a rewarding career and making a difference to the world.
Who is Dr. Angela Yu
Dr. Angela Yu is one of the best educators online but personally I feel she is the best in the world.
She is known for her approachable, mild-mannered, charming, and engaging teaching style in coding and app development.
Dr. Angela Yu started her career as an NHS doctor, having studied medicine for six years, with a focus on becoming an orthopedic surgeon. She worked in the NHS for three years, including during the COVID-19 pandemic.
At some point in her career, she realized that she wanted autonomy and the freedom to travel and explore the world.
Her passion for coding, nurtured from a young age, eventually led to a significant career shift. She recalls, “When I was just 12 years old, I wanted to build my own Space Invader game. Since then, I’ve created hundreds of websites, apps, and games. But most importantly, I realized that my greatest passion is teaching.”
She began her coding and teaching career as the lead instructor at the London App Brewery, London’s leading Programming Bootcamp. The coding BootCamp London App Brewery was also something she had founded.
She mentions having helped thousands of students learn to code at London App Brewery and transform their lives by becoming developers.
Her teaching style goes beyond just imparting practical knowledge. Dr. Angela Yu emphasizes that she spends a significant amount of time researching how to make learning to code enjoyable and how to make hard concepts easy to understand.

The reason for writing this blog post was not to glorify the massive wealth earned by online teachers (Maybe a little). But a point to prove that teaching too has immense potential to create wealth and can also be a successful business.
It is definitely not an easy ride. While we often relate quickly to success stories and start daydreaming of our own, remember the effort Dr Angela Yu made to create all this.
Dr Angela Yu was a doctor before she founded a coding BootCamp, which she operated successfully along with being the lead instructor there.
Imagine running a business, creating successful lesson modules for students, and teaching. And later advancing to produce High-end, production-quality content online. Just thinking about this has made me tired, it never was some overnight success.
Creating wealth definitely is possible through teaching. But does require deep work and effort to produce 10x products that are better than the rest. I think for me, that is the one single course ‘100 Daysof Python’ by Dr. Angla Yu that dominates all the Python courses in the world.
