Violin for Tango
I lived in Buenos Aires for a time and always had a close relationship with my friends there. One of them, Gabriela Olcese, is a music teacher who plays violin in the Teatro Colón Symphony Orchestra and in other ensembles.
She knows I love to tango and proposed we create a special program. She hired traditional tango musicians and organized the recordings in a beautiful small theatre that pertains to her family, an ideal environment for the artists and the dancers.
“Violin for Tango” takes us through a panorama of the best tango composers and, as the cherry on the cake, offers violinists the possibility of playing with the ensemble because one piece was played with and without the violinist.
Can tango be viewed as part of classical music? Since Piazzolla, nobody doubts it!
