Can she ever get better?
God blessed her with everything needed to prosper and be the best. She has what others who are more successful than her cannot dare to boast of. Despite having so much, she dares not open her mouth to speak where others who are less than her speak. She has been ridiculed and reduced to nothing. She is constantly deprived of opportunities wherever she goes. Her dignity has been reduced to nothing and ashes are valued more than her.?
There is no peace in her home. It is from one fight today to another tomorrow. If it is not killing today then it is kidnaping tomorrow and breaking out of jail the following day. There is always something to be worried about in her home every blessed day. No month passes by without bad news from her house. Many of her children have left her, many are leaving and more will leave.?Her children ridicule her everywhere they go and wash her dirty linen before the world.?
She no longer has anything tangible or meaningful to offer her children and the little she has is taken by the few powerful ones and kept in their pockets and bank accounts. In her home, it is who has power that survives and becomes wealthy. In her house, the government does as it likes and pays no heed to the pain and anguish of the electorates who put them in the seat of power.?
Is any of these her fault? Not at all. It is the fault of her evil and wicked children who have chosen to bring shame and ridicule to her name. It is a result of the greed and the insatiable nature of her children both old and young. Only the rich and powerful will truly tell you they enjoy staying in her house.?
Has it occurred to you who I speak of or do you need me to call her name? Well, I will call her name to avoid assumptions; I speak of no other than Nigeria. Nigeria; a country blessed with natural resources to last her till the end of the world currently languishes in poverty, insecurity, and an irresponsible government. Nigeria was never a perfect country but it was a better country 8yrs ago than it is currently. The average Nigerian can barely feed in 2022 as exchange rates ridiculously rise every day; it is now N710 for a dollar and there is no hope of it not going higher in days or months to come.?About 200 million Nigerians live below $2 daily. Nigeria accounts for 14% of the world's poor. Despite being blessed with oil deposits, Nigeria is still poorer and below countries with no oil. Nigeria has the second largest oil reservoir in Africa. Corruption is the primary factor behind the woes of the country and its citizens. Everyone is fighting for his pocket.?
Nigeria's biggest problem is irresponsible government and corruption. What is happening to Nigeria is what will happen to any country with the kind of government Nigeria has. A government that is more interested in unimportant things than paying attention to the crisis within her state. A government that is more concerned with going to other countries to give speeches to educate other leaders on how to solve or tackle problems that are left unsolved in his own country. Nigeria is one of the top countries in Africa currently with the highest insecurity situation yet her leader goes to other countries to teach them how to tackle insecurity.

People are afraid to travel and even leave their homes but even in their homes, they are not safe. People get murdered in the comfort of their homes and most times nothing is done about it. In Nigeria, anyone can get away with any crime as long as you know someone powerful somewhere and you have cash. You might never understand the pain and woe that has befallen the country until you visit and live in it. Only the citizens who live in it can truly relate. Only the poor masses can completely describe the fear they face every day. Nigeria which used to be a great destination for tourists is now a dangerous place and is not advisable for tourists to visit anymore. Citizens are not even safe to talk more of tourists and foreigners.
Thinking about Nigeria and its many issues and problems is heartbreaking and it creates nothing but fear in the hearts of many. The goal and dream of many Nigerians is to leave for other countries in search of greener pastures. The current brain drain in Nigeria is alarming and you cannot blame the citizens for leaving but rather blame the government. They have made our land unsafe for us and the only way for us to stay alive and survive is to leave. Only Nigerians leaving in Nigeria can truly relate to the pain and fear that exists.?
Will Nigeria ever go back to the country it used to be or become better? Yes, it can but not anytime soon. The restoration of Nigeria can only come when leaders emerge who are more interested in the betterment of the country than their pockets and also in securing the future of their children and families. You might and might not agree with me that 90% of those ruling Nigeria currently are more interested in growing their bank accounts than the well-being of Nigeria and Nigerians.?
We do not know who the savior of Nigeria will be but we are hopeful that Nigeria gets better someday.
