Can robots replace human?

Be it low skill task such as packing fries in a fast-food restaurant or high skill task such as portfolio management, robots seem to be snatching work from human.

However, given that businesses need humans not just to produce but also to consume, a simple subsistence theory would suggest that businesses cannot afford to replace human without finding alternative avenues to engage them.

Eventually, like it has always been, as machines take up more of the repetitive tasks, humans would just move towards more productive work. At least, as long as doomsday predictions of sci-fi movies like matrix or terminator series doesn't become a reality.
