Can a question change your day?
This past weekend, I visited a Trader Joe's grocery store near my childhood home. While checking out, Alex the cashier greeted me with an emphatic question "What has been the best part of your day?".
My standard answer to help people feel great is to say "being here with you". Alex was hip to my game and said, besides that...."What has been the best part of your day?".
WOW. Someone who genuinely asked me to reflect back on the day and share with them. In thinking about the question, it did cause me to think back and pick my favorite parts of the day. Thankfully, there were 5 things to chose from. I shared my best moment of the day and she did back to me.
I thanked Alex for doing that and wrote a note to the store manager. Alex at Trader Joe's has a great gift. She asked the leading question with curiosity and charisma. It forced me to think about the positives.
I share this with you in hopes it gets you thinking about the little things that can really help make a difference.
By the way, what has been the best part of your day? :)

1 å¹´I love the way this question is phrased... so much more personal than "how's your day going," which implies a simpler answer than "what's the best part of your day." And to answer the question, my morning walk in ~60 degree weather before most people are even out of bed, definitely started my day on the right (and left) foot. #haveagreatday #positivitymatters
