Can a Positive Mindset Help You Succeed in Business?

Entrepreneurs & Business owners are usually highly energetic individuals with tons of self-motivation. However, entrepreneurship and owning & building a business is a battle that not many can endure, in fact statistically not many make it past the first 5 years. Maintaining that entrepreneurial spirit is something every CEO business owner & entrepreneur struggle’s with throughout the lifetime of their business.

As the founder of my own company and going through a high growth YOY process, I fully understand the struggles of being an entrepreneur and a business owner.

In that time, I’ve had lots of ups and downs, fell more times that I wish to remember and will probably continue to do so, questioned my path & sometime my decision to go into business in the first place, this would discourage most, but I’ve learned how important it is to concentrate on the positives, keep focus on your goals & vision and to keep falling forward.

There is no such thing as over night success, it handwork, focus, drive, determination and above all else having a goal, a destination to focus on and ensuring you have a plan to achieve your goal.

As a CEO, sales director, aspiring business owner or entrepreneur, mindset is critical to overcoming the challenges that come with building, developing and owning a business as well as being an entrepreneur.

Consider these two important mindsets that all entrepreneurs should be aware of:

The Positive vs. Negative Mindset

These two mindsets spell out the difference between positive thoughts and negative thoughts. Negative thoughts tend to limit thinking, undervalue achievements and generate a variety of negative feelings. Negative feelings, in turn, can lead to lack of confidence and underperformance. People with a positive mindset, on the other hand, tend to have a better outlook on life and are more energetic, productive and successful, with a resilience to keep moving forward.

As a business owner & entrepreneur, I have learned that staying positive, even when setbacks arise, is key to moving forward and pushing through. A positive mindset can help you turn a bad situation into a good one in a much shorter period of time, and with better end results. It’s the process of making something good out of something bad. When things go wrong or something negative happens, take 5 minutes to change your mindset, think: How can I change this into a positive, how can I use this set back as an opportunity. All of a sudden you open your mind to possibility and opportunity rather than closed off frustration or anger.

As a company that relies heavily on development people and businesses from the inside out , we’ve often had some very tough time when trying to get business owners to identify gaps in their own mindset, poor leadership culture or bad business management processes, it’s never been about pointing the finger, never, but most people just don’t like to know that on occasions they are sometimes the person standing in the way of growth, sometime they just need to let go ad try something new.

However, that hasn’t discouraged me at all.. Instead, it taught us how to be more efficient and led to us creating our transformative workshops and business development tools. A negative mindset, on the other hand, would have led us to give up and lose faith, walk away — which is certainly not what entrepreneurship is all about.

The Growth vs. Fixed Mindset

The second mindset that concerns business owner & entrepreneurs is a growth versus fixed mindset. A growth mindset views the opportunities ahead as limitless. A fixed mindset is limited by the current state of things. Successful business owners & entrepreneurs largely focus on the growth mindset, as it allows them to think big and push forward.

A business owner & entrepreneur with a fixed mindset will suffer failure and give up. An business owner & entrepreneur with a growth mindset will take a failure and use it as a chance to demonstrate the resilience and determination necessary to overcome that failure. A fixed mindset views the market as limited and shrinking, while a growth mindset sees the market as ever-growing and full of opportunities.

As the founder & leader of my own company, I know I have to be in growth-mindset. I tell myself & my employees every day that we have thousands upon thousands of customers we can reach out to, help, inspire guide & develop. That encourages us all to keep trying and moving forward. That positive reinforcement goes a long way in motivating all of us to push through, it helps create a fully engaged high-performance success culture within our business

Developing Your Mindset

Having the right mindset is important for succeeding in business and in life. But how can you develop your own mindset and lead it in the right direction? As an entrepreneur, I’ve learned that there are some key things you have to keep doing in order to maintain a positive and growth mindset.

Do NOT limit your thinking.

Two years ago, I visualised my business would create a transformative approach to business growth & leadership development, so I set about creating our very own unique transformative approach to inspiring, guiding & developing business owners, entrepreneurs & business professionals that would create a high-performance mindset in everything they do, so I set about perfecting a method & system that would close the underlying gaps in our mindset & belief system. The gaps that are the root cause of virtually every performance issue or lack of confidence we face in our business world today.

Today, it has become the main driver in everything we do & everything we teach. It all started with a big dream that’s now a reality. Don’t limit your dreams or goals: Limited thinking leads to limited ideas, which stunt growth and performance.

Just as important as limitless thinking is being deliberate about your habits and routines & actions.

Imagine having a dream about losing weight but not being deliberate about eating healthy or exercising. How soon would that dream come true? The same thing can be said about any goals you set for your company or business. If you’re not deliberate about taking actions to achieve those goals or dreams, it’s as good as not having any goals or dreams. I’ve learned to set short-term and long-term goals that help me achieve those dreams. Each milestone reached will take you one step closer.

By having a growth mindset thinking process and being deliberate about your behaviours, habits, routines & actions, you can maintain your business & entrepreneurial spirit, develop a positive mindset and be open to growth and success in your business.
