Can Money Buy Your Happiness?

Can Money Buy Your Happiness?

We usually hear the phrase, "money can't buy you happiness" from our friends and family. The main point of this is that finance alone won't provide happiness, but can it really not?

There are some things that money can't buy; For instance, it can't certainly make a broken person happy, amend relationships, or even purchase a sense of worth and belonging.

To some extent, we might all agree with what has been said above. Money isn't everything, but it can make things a lot easier.?However, I disagree with those who use the phrase "money can't buy happiness" as an excuse for failing to improve their financial situation.

Buying material things can bring temporary happiness

While it's true that money cannot fully bring genuine happiness, it can buy a lot of pleasure forms. But, the enticement of these pleasant experiences can wear off quickly, so whatever happiness you may have can be quickly replaced by sadness whether you're reading the last page of a good book or?sipping?the last drop of an expensive champagne.

Material things and purchased experiences can make us happy. But if we simply care about what makes us feel good in the moment, we risk settling for short-lived pleasure that must be constantly replenished. That traps us in an endless loop of striving to satisfy an unquenchable need. And that's hardly a recipe for happiness.?

According to a recent study conducted by researchers at Purdue University, a household income of $60,000 to $75,000 is sufficient to ensure psychological health. However, those who reported a salary of $105,000 or over reported a decline in their happiness compared to their previous years where they earn less.?

Money can make a difference in our lives

No matter how much or how little you earn, I believe that money can somehow cause you some happiness, but it needs to be linked with something meaningful in order to do so.

True, money won't fix someone who's miserable at their core. But let's not pretend that money can't make a major difference in people's lives.

Money may not fully buy our happiness but it can pay for the important things we live for. It can pay for our daily expenses and save for our future, and when we are able to keep our spending in check and save money, we gain a sense of peace that money can't purchase but can make us happy. Knowing that you have saved enough money to retire comfortably and remain financially self-sufficient for as long as possible gives you peace of mind about the future.

When we have money, we can have more freedom and options to survive. Instead of being chained to a 9-to-5 type of job, you have the freedom to do the things that bring you happiness such as travelling and spending a vacation abroad.

Possessing financial freedom also gives you flexible options without having to compromise your needs. If you're unfortunate to have a toxic employer and your savings are sufficient, you have the option to leave your employment. Another thing is you don't have to stay in an unhappy marriage just because of financial considerations if both of you and your partner have your own means of support.

Multiple studies have found that the wealth does not only allow you to live longer but also lets you enjoy a greater number of healthy (disability-free) years. This makes a good sense, considering that wealthy people have easier access to the greatest medical care available. In addition, they have the financial means to invest in physical health and nutrition.

Money can protect us from the financial risks

Most importantly, having a lot of money to get insurance can provide you peace of mind and happiness. Due to rising costs of living, some people may have overlooked the importance of obtaining sufficient insurance.

You would probably learn to adapt if you were forced to deal with unforeseen disturbances to your life and lifestyle. But why risk your happiness? Insuring yourself in advance against the risks of life's unknowns can help you relax and focus on getting better when the inevitable disaster does hit.

Most significantly, it gives you the opportunity to lessen the impact on your life and on your children while still spending quality time with your loved ones throughout your recovery process. If something catastrophic were to happen to you, your children would still be taken care of and have the means to pay for the things that makes them happy.

Focus on the things that matter most

While having the financial means to cover the material things you want can certainly be enjoyable, it cannot provide the kind of lasting satisfaction that can change a person from the inside out. True happiness depends on our personal growth, the quality of our relationships, and our physical and mental well-being.?

Money can buy true happiness - if it means something meaningful to us whether its securing our future or protecting our financial wellbeing.

Don't take it for granted - use it to invest in your dreams and protect yourself from the uncertainties of life. Invest in what truly matters to you; don't let money be a source of stress, but a way to protect yourself and ensure your security.

With a positive frame of mind, you focus less on fleeting pleasures and more on finding the source of your motivation and the things that truly matter to you in life, both of which will provide you with lasting happiness.
