Can Modern Medication Adherence Tools Drive Patient Compliance?

Poor patient compliance in clinical trials can contribute to erroneous results. This can threaten the integrity of the data that is essential in the pursuit of proving the safety and efficacy of the investigational product, delay the time to market, and open the study up to the risk of failure.?
To mitigate this, researchers may opt to increase the sample size, or increase the dosage. But both options are problematic. Studies have shown that a 20% non-adherence rate amongst patients requires a 50% increase in sample size to maintain the equivalent study power.?This type of expansion is expensive and adds to the complexity of recruitment and prevents researchers from achieving an early indication of the safety and efficacy of the investigational product.?
So, what's the alternative? well, that's up for debate...
