It can be lonely at the Top! But it doesn't have to be that way.

Last year I conducted a short market research with friends and former colleagues to refine my executive coaching offerings and the results confirmed what I suspected.

In some organisations the more senior you are the fewer opportunities for leadership development you will receive. Often, the assumption is that senior leaders don't need help or further development after all they have already reached the top as C-Suite executives.

In my view, nothing could be further from the truth. I'm obviously biased, but I'm a firm believer (and research has shown) that senior executives do benefit immensely, not so much from traditional training, but from professional executive coaching and mentoring and the space for self-reflection that it entails.

Having a neutral person, who is unbiased (unlike your leader/partner/friends) and has your best interest at heart, who is skilled in stretching/challenging your thinking in a supportive and non-judgmental environment, who can serve as an accountability partner is priceless for anyone's personal and professional growth.

Some of my current and past executive coaching clients are lucky enough to work for organisations that acknowledge their needs for ongoing support and development and therefore have been sponsored to hire me as their executive coach/mentor.

While I sincerely admire those clients of mine for their courage to do the inner work in order to grow into better humans and leaders, I admire even more those of my proactive clients who have decided to personally invest in their personal and professional development.
