I have had a chance to meet and chat with some of you. I must confess, this group of people is quite special. It is hard to express my gratitude for your unconditional support, giving me the courage for not only what I'm building, but what I'm becoming...

Before I start, I hope 2023 will bring a surprising and major shift in your life, far better than you have ever imagined. ??

What is my intention with this article?

Long story short, let's get down to business. As we enter the second week of the new year, I thought I should do a better job telling you the story and the mission of SwitchWeb3 with some flavor of my personal story. I also would like to highlight the exceptional market volume that relies upon all of us. At the end of the day, this platform is designed for our community, and I will discuss how it can benefit us.

How SwitchWeb3 was born?

If you didn't know about my personal story, I'm a Tech Entrepreneur and product designer myself. When my previous startup failed back in 2020, I had to make a rough decision. I still remember the moment, when I was looking back at my office as I have shut the door for the last time. I have closed a five-year-old chapter with sweet, bitter memories as well as blood, sweat, and tears.

Luckily, I managed to find a tech job within a week with the help of my good friend and old colleague. Shortly after, I left my city life with only a backpack. (Read my full story)

I have moved to a heavenly, small town with the most beautiful beaches in the country, located in Southern Turkey across Greek islands.

While I was working, I did a lot of inner work, focusing on my healing and restoring my life force. I swam, meditated, exercised, took long walks in nature, and finally balanced my financial situation. After all, have grown older and learned to be slower in life.

I guess it was time to move to a new chapter in my life. Around the beginning of October 2022, I was laid off from my tech job. Sometimes if you wait longer than you should, the universe makes the final judgment and does what is best for you. This is exactly what has happened to me.

To be honest, I didn't know what to do for 2 weeks. I have applied for hundreds of other tech jobs, however, I was constantly rejected.

Have you found yourself in a similar situation?

I noticed something fishy there, as a Senior tech worker, I realized this wasn't only happening to me. In fact, there is a plaque on the tech world right now. Doordash, Meta, Stripe, and many others are laying off thousands of people. This was the lesson I learned the hard way. Whether you have a job or not, always consider having a plan B. Create multiple streams of income, and never stop investing in yourself.

I know when God closes one door, it opens another one. In fact, this was a new chance given to me to pursue my dreams again. Once I come to terms with my situation, it liberated me from my fears to help me take bold steps toward my path.

I thought this fresh start would be a marvelous opportunity to sharpen my skills as a Designer. When I started to read about the future and emerging trends, I noticed the rise of Web3 and the major job opportunities it brings. When looking at world events from the macro level, change is inevitable. Sooner or later, the nature of the internet will have to evolve just like in the 1990s.

Context about Web3

If you are unfamiliar with the concept, the Web3 is the third generation of the World Wide Web, also known as the "Semantic Web." It refers to the development of web technologies that allow computers to understand the meaning of information on the internet, rather than just the raw data. Let me list some characteristics to provide you with more depth.

?? Decentralized: Web3 technologies are based on decentralized systems and networks that operate without a central point of control.

?? Interoperable: Web3 technologies are designed to allow different systems and applications to work together seamlessly.

?? Intelligent: Web3 technologies use machine learning and artificial intelligence to enable computers to understand and respond to human language.

?? User-centered: Web3 technologies are focused on creating a more user-centered and human-centered internet.

?? Secure: Web3 technologies enhance privacy and security by removing the need for central points of control and enabling users to retain control of their data.

One of the main goals of Web3 technologies is to empower end users by giving them more control over their data and their online experiences. This can be achieved through the use of technologies such as decentralized identity systems and self-sovereign identity.

Since you have a better understanding of the characteristics of Web3 now, let's continue our story. I thought, stepping into this new space could be a turning point for other tech workers like me. By making the switch, we wouldn't only stay competitive, but this could be a pivotal move to contribute to designing and building tomorrow's internet.

As tech workers, we have a moral obligation and great responsibility to be cautious about the usage of technology. "Is it going to liberate humanity or verse versa?" By asking these questions myself, even though, Web3 still has a long way to go, I couldn't watch the world of events from my little corner. I had to stand up, and this stance was the birth moment of SwitchWeb3.
