Can I Not Reach For the Stars?

That’s what a pharmacy student blurted out.
Because of pressure from home.
Because of pressure from their store manager.
Because of pressure from Sallie Mae.
We were talking about their desire to do a residency.
Internal drive encouraging something more.
External forces suggesting something else.
What support do students need when they’re at a defining crossroad?
What support do students need to navigate the internal and external conversations?
Can I not reach for the stars?
Students: take this phrase and tape it to your mirror, your dashboard, and your laptop.
If anyone questions your path, regardless of your path, just repeat this phrase.
It will at least pause the conversation.
Find a mentor. Talk it out.
And yes, please shoot for the stars.
Tell us what support you need to help with your decisions!
