Can I Interest You In Some Solutions ????♀???

Hello solutions seekers! ?

This is just a small note to say thank you for reading The Solutionists.

In many ways, telling these stories and sharing them within our circles helps to elevate the work of young people who are fighting to make our world a better place.

As a one-woman band, it's been encouraging to see more and more people subscribe to the newsletter and reach out to share new stories and feedback about this publication.

The best part of my work is talking about change and telling stories from innovators who are making a difference. Feel inspired, stay informed, and be encouraged that there is positive change in our world, and it's not all doom and gloom.

Thank you for being solution seekers!

The Ozone Layer Is Slowly Recovering ??

Some good news! The ozone layer is on its way to recovery ??

The Ozone and UV Bulletin’s release came out on World Ozone Day, a day that celebrates the Montreal Protocol—the most successful environmental treaty ever! Thanks to this, harmful chemicals that were damaging the ozone layer have been phased out.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres made it clear that we still need to keep up the good work, but the agency also said that there's hope! The ozone layer could return to its 1980 state, back when there were no holes. If we stay on track, it could fully recover by 2045 over the Arctic and as early as 2040 for the rest of the world.

UK's Changes To Fast Food Ads And Caffeine ?? ??

Starting from 1 October 2025, junk food ads will be banned on TV before 9 PM, and paid online ads will be completely prohibited. This decision, confirmed by the government, aims to combat childhood obesity and promote healthier habits for kids.

It is hoped that these restrictions will prevent kids from seeing ads for unhealthy food, which can influence their eating habits. This could be a significant step towards tackling the problem head-on!

The government also made a pledge to ban under-16s from buying high-caffeine energy drinks in England, as part of a wider push to improve children's health. Find out more here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cx2n2g5wze4o.

The Hospital Trains In South Africa ?? ????

South Africa’s healthcare system is interesting. It’s known for having one of the best on the continent, but here’s the catch—most of that is private care, and it can be super pricey. In fact, 85% of people rely on public healthcare, which faces big challenges. For those living in remote areas, getting to a doctor often means traveling long distances. https://pod.link/1177590377/episode/d9f02a0597187209db945b244e1f22b4

But here’s where things get interesting…

Abiel Ma -Rethinking foodwaste??

He's not just created a fancy bin, but an "artificial stomach" that redefines waste management! Abiel Ma's innovation, called VUALA, could very well transform how we handle food waste.

At only 25, Abiel has created a system that sorts food waste from other rubbish using cutting-edge microorganisms and smart mechanical design. The magic happens on-site, turning the food scraps into biogas, hydrogen, or animal feed.

This process cuts CO2 emissions by 75% and slashes waste management costs. From its trial run at Cambridge Science Park to its current role in London’s stylish South Kensington, VUALA is making a big impact. Abiel dreams of a future with clean streets, no overflowing bins, and a huge drop in environmental issues. https://www.unicef.org/innovation/climate/innovation-30/vuala

Norway Now Has More Electric Than Petrol Cars ??

Norway, known for being one of the world’s biggest oil exporters, has just hit a huge milestone: it now has more electric cars than petrol-driven ones on its roads! https://www.automotiveworld.com/articles/norways-historic-milestone-bevs-outnumber-gasoline-cars/

IMG: PA Media | BBC

The country is on a mission to become the first to ban the sale of new petrol and diesel cars by 2025. Thanks to generous tax breaks and incentives funded by Norway’s sovereign wealth fund from oil revenues, electric vehicle sales are soaring. In fact, 90% of new cars sold are electric! While diesel cars are still common, their numbers are quickly dropping as Norway charges ahead with its green goals.
