It Can Feel More On-High-Wire Than On-The-Road
The circus of travel logistics, non-negotiable deadlines, separation from familiarity & resources of home-base?
Most of us end some days not quite done with everything we'd intended to complete. Without doing the research, there’s probably evidence available about most days for most of us ending with at least some uncompleted items (most of my days, for sure). And most of the time, that’s not a crisis — most days would be too many for crisis management. Whatever still needs attention can often be addressed the next day, or some day reasonably soon, whenever back in a right place with required resources at hand.
But when projects are managed on location, there may not be the leeway to simply give it another shot the next day even if in the same place. There's no assurance that the same opportunity will be present. Maybe a prospect just in town for the day came by a company’s tradeshow exhibit space, or maybe shooting an outdoor scene gets bumped and rescheduled to what turns out to be a rainy day. Deadlines get missed, and extended stays or additional trips are expensive and start interfering with other efforts.
