Doesn't it all come back to quality of deal flow ? Founders of promising start-ups are looking for the "right" partners, and good terms, and I'd suggest that FO's can supply all of that, and more, given that all returns flow to them, they don't have the same end of fund time pressures to deliver returns, and are more likely to be more "hands off" and patient with their investments. My 2c worth ....

Depends if they can hire a VC with a proven track record throughout an economic cyle and multiple funds. Then the question is - why would this VC want to leave their fund? Thoughts? Arthur Nobel

Incredible stuff. In fact, Eric Bahn was discussing on a lunch break at Angel Squad, how Family Offices are moving to Singapore from China and deploying funds into tech and other time machines.

Great write up John!!! I’d imagine it’ll be a lot of FOs LPing into funds and doing direct deals along side or from those underlying portfolio companies as they graduate. I’d personally go that route and lean in closely to GPs to get a sense of which might be looking like breakouts!
