Can emotions energize you?

Last week I wrote about emotions which can drain you physically. Today I write about how our emotions can energise us too. Our body, mind, soul and emotions all link together because we are a whole being, not a being made up of seperate parts which don't interact or influence each other.


Just think about how you feel after you have done something you are passionate about? Don't you feel like you have enough energy to move the world? or that you just don't want to stop what you are doing? When we do something we love and we experience the so-called positive emotions, it enhances our energy levels.


What emotions am I talking about? Joy, passion, hope, love, excitement, fun and peace. These are a few of the emotions that improve your energy- there are many more. So what activities can we do resulting in these feel good emotions? We can have a good belly laugh, do something creative, listen to music, connect with others ( if you are an extrovert), be active, make love, garden, be generous to someone else.


So how can we apply this knowledge? If you know that you are going into a tough time at work eg long hours, or if you are dealing with a traumatic or very emotional issue, you know that these things will drain your energy. So in order to top up your energy levels, you need to do the activities which make you feel those "positive " emotions- laugh, have fun, play with your toddler, love your partner, dance! It will give you the resilience you need to endure the tough time you are experiencing.
