Can Distribution Transformer 11000/440 Volts be operated on 12000/440 Volts.(just Imagine )

An Idea just came in my mind that can we change the tap at Power trafo up for producing 12000 Volts at output and to again using the tap changer at distribution transformer to step down voltages up to 12000/440 volts (line to line voltage). If answer is yes. what would be positive and Negative points on Power and Distribution Transformers but keep it mind that there is always some % of +- limit of operating voltage on both Power and Distribution transformers . Let’s discuss.

9 年You can operate the transformer at 12kv but you have to increase supply voltages from grid. But in that case secondary voltages will not be 440 but a greater value. Using tap you may manage your output voltages.
