Can Digital Public Infrastructure, Agent AI and XR convergence enable adoption of technology to solve grass root wicked challenges like SWM.

Challenges like SWM are inherently complex due to its existence at population scale. The SWM challenges are a result of decades of adopting systems to enhance human convenience, due to which it has naturally percolated to the bottom most strata of the society. Today, the problem exists in the most under developed regions, irrespective of affluence and affordability. The smallest unit of the measurement is at every human level, and the impact is translated to collectively compounded effect across a small region in a village or Gram Panchayat.

Since the problem exists across the entire population, solving it is a population scale strategy.

Two main challenges persist in such scenarios

1. Knowledge of product, process and technology to the entire population
2. Operating cost of making the technology available at population scale in a distributed format

A combination of DPI, Agent AI and XR can potentially address these challenges systematically.

• DPI, helps adapt to the localized situations- and instead of solving the challenge with a "one size fits all" approach, DPI will enable locals to solve the problem at a regional village level, create communities that come together and work together towards a greener society.
• Agent AI can help bridge the knowledge gaps – linguistics, process, product or task related by enabling humans and Agent AI to soon function as hyper efficient virtual coworkers
• XR can help village SGH’s to learn to work with Agent AI, familiarize with the task at hand, with Agents managing multiplicity and directed with natural language. Fully immersive virtual environments will help experience various scenarios and demonstrate how you can use it in your own situation to achieve goals that are important to the village. Experiencing is active. When you 'experience', something happens inside your nervous system and your midbrain. New 'grams' and 'neural' patterns are recorded in the gray matter of your brain.
• Human – Agent AI combination : SHG’s can provide instruction; Agent system plans, allocates, and executes work; and iteratively improves output. Today, Agents are the next frontier of generative AI. By moving from information to action—think virtual coworkers able to complete complex workflows—the technology promises a new wave of productivity and innovation.

The effort to train SHG’s and train Agent AI can be similar, however the compound effect of such tech development and adoption can potentially solve some of the wicked challenges Climate change is creating today. We are also solving a more social challenge by creating more employment, more opportunities for citizens to be employable and earn livelihood.
