Can the Deeper Network (DPR) make money from Privacy?

Interestingly, the builders of the Deeper Network (DPR) hope to cash in on the growing erosion of privacy and free speech in today’s world.

?

To explain, Deeper’s builders hope to bypass centralized internet systems that enable censorship and surveillance by sharing bandwidth. The Deeper team hopes to avoid internet gatekeepers by not using centralized servers and the cloud.

?

Instead, the Deeper Network operates on many nodes, private computers that operate like a server and a client. Deeper rewards people who contribute bandwidth to the Deeper Network with DPN tokens. DPN is an acronym for Decentralized Private Network.

?

What is the Deeper Network?

?

I consider the Deeper Network a commercial version of the Onion Router or TOR. The Onion Router is a free and open sourced solution that allows users to access the internet without servers. Interestingly, United States Naval Research Laboratory employees developed TOR in the 1990s. Possibly as a tool for spies, or commandos operating behind enemy lines.

?

The difference between TOR and the Deeper Network is that Deeper intends to pay its node operators. In contrast, TOR relies on volunteers.

?

The hope at the Deeper Network (DPR) is to create a decentralized web with no servers that criminals or authorities can control or monitor. To that end, Deeper is building decentralized Web architecture.

?

The Deeper Network

?

Deeper’s architecture includes a decentralized DNS (dDNS). DNS is an acronym for Domain Name System. The Domain Name System is the primary architecture of the web.

?

There is also a decentralized content delivery network (dCDN). They claim Deeper users can anonymously store content in the Cloud through the dCDN. Deeper claims the dCDN allows for faster access to the Cloud.

?

Deeper’s Deeper Connect hardware serves as a decentralized gateway to Web 3.0 (presumably the dCDN and dDNS). the Deeper Network, and a dAPP store. They claim decentralized applications (dAPPs) can seamlessly access the Deeper Network through Deeper Connect. In particular, they claim decentralized finance (DeFi) solutions such as Polkadot can access the Deeper Network through Deeper Connect.

?

How the Deeper Network Works

?

The Deeper Connect also connects users to the AtomOS (Atom operating system). They claim AtomOS is a lock free network operating system that uses zero-copy technology. That means no copies of data remain on the system for hackers and trackers to find. The AtomOS contains a seven-layer firewall that can perform deep high-speed filtering of data packets.

?

Deeper Connect includes a 15-watt mining rig for DPR tokens. Hence, Deeper Connect users could make money by mining Deeper Network (DPR) tokens. Thus, Deeper Network could make money selling Deeper Connect devices.

?

A company called Deeper Network Inc. Operates the Deeper Network. Deeper Network Inc.’s moneymaking ventures including shopping and an affiliate program. I imagine the affiliates are the Node Operators.

?

What Value does the Deeper Network Offer?

?

Sadly, Deeper Network’s market could be vast because censorship and surveillance are growing.

?

Notably, Russian President Vladimir Putin is taking censorship to new extremes to stifle criticism of his idiotic Ukraine War. For instance, the Russian Duma (parliament) passed laws banning independent war reporting, discussion of the Ukraine War, and spreading “fake news,” Human Rights Watch reports.

?

Similarly, Statista estimates YouTube removed 11.402 million videos by “automatic flagging” in the second quarter of 2021. YouTube employees manually removed another 552,062 videos in the second quarter of 2021.

?

The number of videos removed by YouTube’s automatic flagging fell to 3.754 million in the fourth quarter of 2021. The number of manually removed YouTube videos fell to 302,524 in the fourth quarter of 2021.

?

Hence, censorship is a growing problem, people want to get around. The demand for censorship bypasses is there. Atlas VPN claims virtual private network (VPN) installs in Russia grew by 11,253% after the beginning of the Ukraine War.

?

Thus, the demand for the Deeper Network’s service is out there. Unfortunately, I predict Deeper Network will face attacks from governments and Big Tech. One obvious charge will be that people will use Deeper to access porn and that criminals will use it to move money around. All it will take is one news story about one pervert using the Deeper Network to access child porn to get politicians to demand censorship.

?

?Can the Deeper Network Make Money?

Predictably, interest in the Deeper Network (DPR) is high. Interestingly CoinGecko named the Deeper Network the second most trending cryptocurrency in the United States on 28 May 2022.

?

Conversely, CoinMarketCap named the Deeper Network the 376th largest cryptocurrency on 1 June 2022. CoinMarketCap gave Deeper a 47.42¢ Coin Price, a $55.206 million Market Capitalization, a $474.179 million Diluted Market Cap, and a $2.653 million 24-Hour Market Volume on 30 June 2022. They based those numbers on a Circulating Supply of 1.25 billion DPR, a Maximum Supply of 10 billion DPR, and a Total Supply of 10 billion DPR.

?

In contrast, CoinGecko gave the Deeper Network (DPR) a 47.43¢ Coin Price and a $935,070 24-Hour Market Volume on 1 June 2022. Tellingly, CoinGecko did not offer a Market Cap for Deeper on June 2022.

?

I think the Deeper Network is an interesting cryptocurrency for which there is a demand. However, I am not sure if the Deeper Network can make money and survive government attacks. Another problem Deeper has is free alternatives such as the TOR which could be more secure. I advise investors and speculators to avoid the Deeper Network (DPR) for those reasons.?
