Can Deep Breathing Help You Get Through the Coronavirus Pandemic?
Catherine Carrigan
Medical Intuitive Healer + Amazon No. 1 Bestselling Author + Host, The Natural Healing Show for UK Health Radio
Over the past month since coronavirus began spreading to over 2.8 million people around the globe, I have given away copies of my Amazon number 1 bestseller The Little Book of Breathwork to people in 11 different countries.
Can deep breathing help YOU get through the coronavirus pandemic?
Here’s my observation:
- Breathing exercises are among the easiest natural healing remedies for lowering anxiety naturally. Surveys show we are suffering from exceptionally high levels of anxiety, stress and fear.
- Medical doctors are now recommending breathing exercises for people who develop COVID-19.
- If you are recovering from coronavirus, you will want to practice breathing exercises to strengthen your lungs and hasten your recovery.
Don’t wait til you get the virus to learn these free, powerful tools that you can do anytime, anywhere.
Teach yourself now so that if you or any of your family members develops the virus you will know what to do to survive.
In a recent article for The Huffington Post, Vandana Patel, a board-certified pulmonologist Bon Secours Mercy Medical Group in Portsmouth, Virginia, and clinical adviser for Cabinet Health pointed out that deep breathing exercises form a similar function to ventilators to get more air into the lungs.
You can use the exercises from The Little Book of Breathwork to get through the emotional and physical challenges of coronavirus and also to strengthen your lungs while you are recovering.
The American Lung Association recommends deep breathing exercises for pulmonary rehabilitation.
The power of yoga breathing exercises are no secret to those of us who have practiced yoga for many years.
The New England Complex Systems Institute concludes: “Deep breathing has been shown to improve respiratory health and patient outcomes across a number of conditions.
“While more intensive chest physiotherapy has not been found effective in treating hospitalized pneumonia patients [9], for mild symptoms standard breathing exercises may be beneficial.”
If you would like a FREE copy of The Little Book of Breathwork, email me at [email protected].
I’ll be happy to send one over and ask you to please share this book with anyone who might benefit right now.
I’ve also created a video showing you acupressure techniques to improve your lung function. You can watch the video and follow along to do these self healing techniques at this link.
I call my breathwork routine Eight Minutes to Inner Peace because you can usually cut your anxiety in half in a mere eight minutes if you simply follow along.
I myself suffered from asthma for many years in my early 30s and had to use steroid inhalers to cope.
Even though I began exercising regularly to strengthen my lungs, it wasn’t until I learned yoga breathing that medical doctors could no longer discover any trace of asthma.
You may think you are breathing correctly because you’re still alive.
However, you may be astonished to feel the difference when you finally learn how to use your full lung capacity by following the breathing exercises, hand mudras and affirmations in The Little Book of Breathwork.
I live my life prayerfully and about two years ago I kept receiving guidance that I needed to write a book about breathing.
“Who will ever read a book about breathing?” I kept questioning myself.
“Who needs a book about breathing?”
I struggled for about a year with my ego mind disputing the guidance my soul insisted I follow.
I published The Little Book of Breath Work a year ago, becoming my seventh out of eight Amazon number 1 bestsellers.
Now of course a year later we find ourselves in the greatest pandemic of our lifetimes, coronavirus, which attacks a person’s lungs, dramatically reducing oxygen carrying capacity and ability to breathe.
I am humbled by the memories of how hard I argued with myself and am thankful to be able to share this crucial information at the time the world needs it the most.
Here’s what you need to know about The Little Book of BreathWork, which teaches you methods of stress reduction through breathing, affirmations and mudras.
The Little Book of Breath Work is a handbook you can use anytime, anywhere to lower your stress naturally.
What you will learn:
- How to use breathing exercises to reduce high blood pressure, anxiety, depression, fatigue, insomnia, asthma, pain, sleep apnea and breathing problems.
- Affirmations to uplift your soul.
- Hand gestures called mudras you can use to increase your inner peace, emotional balance, creativity and grounding.
Author Catherine Carrigan has taught yoga and breath work for 25 years. In her work as a medical intuitive healer, she teaches people how to heal themselves naturally without drugs.
Having drug-free methods for coping with the stress of all the extreme changes right now is absolutely crucial.
Marc Brackett, founding director of the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence, reports a survey of 5,000 people across the country recently showed, “There is a major shift—95 percent of the emotions that people are coming up with, talking about, are anxiety, stress and fear. Only 5 percent of the emotions that people share with us that they’re experiencing each day are positive emotions, and they’re not joy or happiness. They’re more like hope and optimism.”
None of us yet know how long coronavirus will be affecting our way of life.
Until then, we can learn to breathe through the challenges and share this empowering information with our loved ones around the world.
What is healing? Healing happens when you harness the power of your own breath.
