Can carbon fiber plates be spliced? How is the performance after splicing?
Carbon fiber plates can be spliced after forming, but it is not as perfect as imagined. The performance after splicing will be lower than that of one-piece carbon fiber plates. So how to splice? One is to overlap or connect the edges of two carbon fiber plates to achieve the effect of a whole carbon fiber plate. The other splicing is to connect the carbon fiber plate with other parts to achieve the effect of overall operation.
If it is the first splicing, the performance of two carbon fiber plates together and a one-piece carbon fiber plate is definitely different. The latter is better and more stable. If the carbon fiber plate is connected with other parts, this situation is more common in industrial production.
Introduction to carbon fiber plate splicing method
1. Gluing: Carbon fiber plates and aluminum alloy plates can be glued, that is, adding suitable structural glue between the two to fix them. Before gluing, the joints of the carbon fiber plate and the aluminum alloy plate need to be cleaned to remove surface impurities, and then polished to increase the surface roughness and make the gluing more stable.
2. Mechanical connection: Mechanical connection includes threaded connection, rivet connection, etc. This connection method can increase the maximum load transmitted, has good peeling resistance, and can be repeatedly disassembled and assembled. The disadvantage is that the processing difficulty and precision requirements are high, especially the tapping of carbon fiber plates is difficult.
3. Mixed connection: The reasonable application of mechanical connection and adhesive bonding can effectively improve the tightness of the connection and reduce the difficulty of operation. It is currently the most used method.

4. Pre-embedding: There are always some cases where the connection between carbon fiber plates and aluminum alloy plates cannot achieve the expected effect. At this time, pre-embedding treatment can also be performed. In the process of making carbon fiber plates, the aluminum alloy plate is placed in the carbon fiber prepreg to make the two into a whole. This connection method has better effect, but it is also more difficult and has higher investment cost.
If the purpose of splicing or connecting carbon fiber plates is just to achieve the overall effect of appearance, it is undoubtedly achievable, but if the purpose is to pursue the continuity and integrity of performance, it cannot be achieved.
