Can reading business or personal development books help you achieve your plans and goals for 2023? The short answer is possibly!
For a start, it can depend on the goal - for example learning a new skill, focusing on improving a particular area of your business, mindset, etc.
It's not just work goals - there are also personal goals you may wish to achieve.
(Although in some cases, e.g. health, remember that reading non-fiction books is never a substitute for seeking professional or medical advise.)
As with all things, it's important to remember that business books are not a magic solution that will instantly solve everything.
Trying the ideas within their pages can (and will) take time. You can't just read the book, put it back on the bookcase, and expect things to happen on their own.
Even with inspirational or motivational books, you still need to take action.
Reading a book may not be the only solution - and picking a few non-fiction books to help you with your goals, is something to do alongside other tools, help, and resources.
A mistake people often make is to constantly read different books - it can be more effective to pick one or two favourites, and focus on reading those books, trying the ideas within their pages, taking your time, etc.
No book can offer a quick fix, make you a millionaire overnight, or help you "get rich quick". If a book makes such promises, be careful. While profits/sales may be your ultimate goal, thinking about money may also effect how you approach a book you are reading.

If you are really struggling with your business - books are not the answer, and never a substitute for seeking professional help or advice.
Decide on what you goals will be - perhaps break them down into smaller goals. What will you need to learn? What action do you need to take? And find suitable books to help with this (and of course my book group can also help you find suitable books).
As I often say, take your time with each book you read, actually try the ideas, and don't rush.
Finally, remember there is 12 months in a year - a new year isn't just January. Some goals may even take longer to achieve or see results - and something to continue working on into 2024 and beyond, with 2023 being the year you start.
If there is anything I can do to help you achieve your goals for next year, let me know.
