Can Apprenticeships Bridge the Skills Gap?

Can Apprenticeships Bridge the Skills Gap?

Can apprenticeships bridge the skills gap that Brexit is expected to create?

The 5% Club last week, a committee charged with coming up with ways to address the skills shortage and reduce unemployment, suggests it is.

Last year the number of apprenticeships increased by 24% compared to a 2% rise in graduate vacancies but they failed to attract young people. The number of people aged under 25 enrolling on apprenticeships rose by only 4% between 2010-2014.

Our latest article looks at this issue in more detail, including detailing effective solutions for bridging the skills gap including:

  • Degree apprenticeships
  • Offer flexibility
  • Remove your graduate filter
  • Take the initiative
  • Support with recruitment software
