Good nutrition and what you put into your body is the foundation for good health .
Almost 2500 years ago, Hippocrates said -“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” . Considered as one of the most influential figures in the history of medicine and healing, he advised people to prevent and treat diseases first and foremost by eating a nutrient-dense diet.
Food gives our bodies the "information" and materials needed to function properly. When our bodies don't get the right information, our metabolic processes suffer and our overall health declines.
As a mind-body coach I like to emphasise how food can be our medicine. Not to think about food as the enemy. I give a view of nutrition that goes beyond calories or grams, good foods or bad foods. I teach the importance of focusing on foods we should include rather than foods we should exclude, and to look at food as a way to create health, well-being and emotional balance.
So many people that come to me are completely unaware of how tightly related food and mood are. Our emotions are triggered or balanced by our food choices. Instead of being on an emotional rollercoaster all the time, learn to master how you feel by your food choices.
Nutritional deficiencies and toxicity from a poor diet are directly linked to nearly all modern health conditions. Eating too much of the wrong foods, eating too little or over-eating can result in us becoming undernourished, overweight and at risk developing diseases and conditions, such as arthritis, depression, diabetes, and heart disease. These illnesses are highly influenced by one’s diet .
Through my own health challenges I found certain foods to have specific healing and medicinal properties .These foods act like natural protectors against disease and help decrease inflammation, balance hormones, stabilise blood sugar levels , alkalise the body and eliminate toxins from our systems.
Every meal that you eat influences the way that you feel.
I always tell my clients that by thinking about what is at the end of your fork, eating for health and letting go of the dieting mentality you can live a life filled with vitality, health and joy.
