Camp Chateau Newsletter: May '23

Hello Campers, Founding Members and the Chateau Curious,

It is so?beautiful?here this month. All the leaves are green, the roses are blooming and the fruit is starting to show in the orchards. I am at the chateau now and will be here all summer. My co-founders, Leah and Lynda, and our camp director, Tegwen, are also popping in for a week here and there over the next 6 weeks as we put the final touches to camp preparation before our first campers arrive on June 20th for?Founders Week.

Our meadows are thriving. A local farmer grazes his horses on one of our fields every spring and they are enjoying an abundance of long grasses and wildflowers. One of our values is COMMUNITY and we are continuing to build wonderful relationships with our Beduer village neighbors.

Our herb garden is thriving now and we are going to be planting a?cutting flower garden?in the next few weeks so that we can have fresh blooms all over the chateau during your camp sessions.

Did you know that we will be having?gardening activities?ranging from the gently informative (learn about growing herbs) … to the lady-of-the-manor vibe (grab a basket and spend an hour genteely deadheading roses and contemplating life) … to the extreme gardener (help us with our latest permaculture project if you are not afraid of dirty hands and a sweaty brow)? There will be something for everyone. You curate your own experience here at Camp Chateau!

Our glamping tents have arrived?and we put one up to make sure we loved it and ended up stress testing it as there was a?huge storm?overnight.

Our verdict:?WE LOVE THEM and we think you will too.?They are so roomy, they have mosquito netting on the walls, windows and door, and you can roll up the outer walls so that you can enjoy a bug-free cool breeze whenever you want. And yes, it stood up perfectly to the storm! We will be pitching these on wooden platforms at the edge of the meadow. It will be heavenly. If you like that sort of thing.

For our in-chateau bunkers, we have chosen antique chateau furnishings and coordinated new decor for every room and we will be setting them all up in the next couple of weeks. Every room has its own personality and charm and its own little secrets. We are so excited for you to see them.

We have hired all of our summer staff and will be introducing them to you over the next few weeks. First up…?Meet the chef!

We are delighted to introduce you to our chef,?Vincent Falvigny, who will be preparing all of your delicious French-country meals this summer. Vincent has perfected his culinary skills through local techniques that respect biodiversity and the environment. He sources only locally grown products from the Lot region and surrounding areas. He has a passion for discovering new flavors and loves to serve local dishes with a twist of creativity. We are all so excited to have him on the team!
